Dodge quality?

My friend has a Dakota and has had electronic lock/window problems as well as a recall on the front ball joints.

Same thing with my friend that has a Durango. The tranny has also just gone out on the Durango, but it does have 100+k miles and he drives it pretty hard (street/highway only)

Dodge trannies are notorious. At the construction job that I held for a few summers during school, my bosses drove Dodge 3/4 ton pickups but they left the equipment towing (backhoes, gangboxes, etc.) to the Fords.

I've had three Chrysler products in a row that I had no problems with:

1998 Dakota pickup.
1999 Chrysler Town & Country (hauled a heavy camper across the country and in mountain terrain with no problem.
2000 Intrepid, used for hauling my boat.

I had all of these vehicles for a minimum of three years each and had no major issues and the interiors did not fall apart.

Stick to people's experience, not their opinions.

I had to replace my transmission in my 1990 Plymouth Sundance recently. Dang thing gave up after 15 years.

Have you seen Mercedes quality lately? It's pretty bad.

My best friend's Dad bought a RAM 3500 diesel and he's had it in the shop 3 times in one year. Once because it left him stranded on the side of the road. One of his other sons picked it up after they had it a week and he couldn't get the thing to do more than 55mph on the way home so it went straight back to the dealer. Since the first few trips back to the dealer though they haven't had any other problems that I'm aware of.

Good engine and tranny, poor quality on everything else..

Uh what problems? The 727 and 904 are good trannies and the 413a fwd tranny isn't bad either.

Uh what problems? The 727 and 904 are good trannies and the 413a fwd tranny isn't bad either.

i dont know the tranny models from then, are those the autos or manuals?

I owned a 5 year old dodge and it was ok. Had about $300-$400 in repair type stuff every year. I call that OK since it was so cheap to buy in the first place. Both consumer reports and JD Power list dodge as subpar in terms of quality. Consumer reports claims that the charger is basically a magnum sedan, which it claims is basically a 300, but it has no reliability info for any of those specific vehicles.

My experience is that total redesigns tend to have poor reliability.
