"That guy" being the super ripped dudes from the bodybuilding magazines and supplement ads. It's a decent watch, and seeing what this guy had to go through made me realign my own expectations and feel a bit better about still not quite looking how I was hoping to look when I started working out 8 months ago.

I didn't realize this was a marketed DVD, I don't know how legit that posting is. Here's a link to the DVD for anyone interested in buying:

Interesting watch.. I skipped forward a few times, but I'd say it was a pretty life changing experience for him. Lots of hard work.

What the mother fvcking hell is with that page? it has TWO advertisement videos ON A LOOP while trying to watch the main one?

Now I have it. Fvck me internet advertisements piss me off as much as telemarketing.

Anyway, all that aside I've known for years that to look like these guys requires truly ridiculous dedication. First, I wouldn't want to look that way anyway (really, I wouldn't), and be when i've been in great shape myself it given me a taste of the effort required. It's just not worth it because ultimately your life will be better (maybe) if you look great, but at some point it becomes pointless. I think a person's life should consist of more hobbies, frankly.

BTW, if you guys like this topic, I cannot recommend enough:

It's the only book I've ever read twice. I read it as a teenager when it first came out and it's a very interesting book, following an uber geek who becomes dissatisfied with himself and goes hardcore for several years, including going on roids and actually does look pretty good. Definitely worth a read.

Meh, I've seen that documentary and his talk-show interviews afterward. The trainer is a freaking joke. Yeah, he gets stuff done, but he ruins the guy's body in the process. At 1800 calories, I could stuff myself to the brim. You know why? I wouldn't be on a dumbass liquid diet. Bodybuilders typically don't know how to make good nutrition work. I've known plenty who know about macros and the like, but don't consider fiber, vitamins, minerals, satiety, etc. It's like they want to suffer for their sport. The guy looks pretty ripped at the end, but I bet I could get someone there without making them "emotional." Plus the guy just lets himself go afterward. It seems the logical thing to do would be go on a more moderate plan. *Shrugs* He's a whiner anyhow.
