Got one of these--seems to be worth it for me. I had to play around to configure the parallel printer port to work, though. I finally got it working by reinstalling the drivers under Win2k.

I have the following connected to the docking station, all running without a hitch:

NEC Superscript 870 Laserprinter Parallel
MS Intellimouse PS/2
Keyboard PS/2
Iomega Fotoshow Zip100 USB
Handspring Cradle USB
Wacom Graphire Tablet & Mouse USB
...and I still have 2 USB ports and a serial port to spare on the Easidoc 200.

These are running on my IBM Thinkpad just fine.

Before, I had the devices connected to a USB hub and had to manually connect the mouse, printer, and keyboard each time, which was a hassle. Now, I just need to connect a single USB cord.

Now if only the rebates will go through!

I picked up one of these but haven't opened it up yet because I am not sure if I will keep it or not. Stupid question.. how does this connect to your machine? Does it go through USB only and somehow support the redirect, or do you have to connect each port from the machine to the dock, and then the new devices to the dock? If the latter, does it come with all the cables you need? How long are they?

haven't opened mine yet either, but the way I believe it works is through a single usb connect to the docking station.

so from your computer --usb--> docking --> all the devices you hook up

thus the reason win95 and winNT aren't compatible.. they don't have
true USB capability.. pretty sure on this one

Just talked to the New Rochelle rebate center. They said to send in both their rebate coupons along with the single UPC in the same envelope, but to mail it to PO BOX 821, instead of the box listed on the coupon. This just keeps getting more complicated!

The words "New Rochelle" make me quake in my boots... and not because that's where the Petries lived.

They're about the worst rebate company out there. Trusting $75 to these jokers would make me think more than twice about this one...

I agree - New Rochelle & conflcting rebate offer = You get the shaft. Someone mentioned that they have been able to get Circuit Cirty to pay their rebate in the store. I have tried this several times in the past and they always refuse and tell me to call the Circuit City Rebate center for rebate issues.

That PO box is the normal one for TCA. I am not sure what number is on the rebate form but I assume that either will work fine. The real question is when/if you will get paid. Best case figure end of March. Worst case, can you trust your CC manager to make good on the rebate if the company does not?

To add a little more to the rebate thing, CSR from TCA told me to send both the Mobility ones in one envelope. Attach original UPC to one and copy to other and write on the envelope that there are TWO rebate forms enclosed (1651 and 1651A on my forms). Only time will tell how well all this works.

I found the same model at Radioshack for $57...so I bought it, PM'ed it with CC, and returned radioshacks.... so I should be getting $40 back AR's and a free mobility

I'd definitely make sure you use the original $99 receipt for the New Rochelle rebate request. Knowing them, who knows what will happen if you put in for $75 worth of rebates on a $57 item.

Circuit City, on the other hand, will know what you ended up paying, but should not complain.

The New Rochelle rebate center will be receiving hundreds, or perhaps thousands of these rebate requests, and it is a legitimate, advertised rebate deal, so they should have lots of practice doing both rebates with only one original UPC, so long as they are sent to the same address in the same envelope.

If not, then Circuit City will simply have to pay me cash from the till, for which I am saving copies of all my paperwork.

 I agree with dbLA.

:frown: I've sent all rebates in and am ready to stand firm in making CircuitCity reponsible if rebates don't pan out.
;) I will present local retail outlet with all documentation and their original store ad showing it "free" after rebate.
 I will do the loud and crazy customer thing if I don't get satisfaction.
;) They will want me out of the store quickly. (My wife won't want to come down to the store with me.)
 Waiting on rebates within 90 days and counting down... (Store visit tentatively slated for April 1, 2oo2.)

CC has a different model of this on sale for $49.99 after the same $100 in rebates next week. This isn't the one with Ethernet, but it has Smartmedia and CompactFlash (and Microdrive) readers in it, which is very cool. Too bad it's not free :-(. The part number in UN070810

Here is the description from the CC site:

<<
This Multifunction Device is the first universal port replicator to include a flash media reader/writer. One simple connection gives you instant connectivity to more than 7 peripherals and keeps cord clutter from getting in your way. Get easy access to photos and MP3s, connect your USB devices and dock your notebook all with one device! Accepts Compact Flash I/II, SmartMedia, and IBM Microdrive and allows hot docking/undocking (you don?t have to reboot every time you add or remove a device).
