I've had bear. (Black bear) It's not that great.

Moose, caribou, goat... not bad. Bear is pretty gamey. It's hard to describe... They eat anything so they taste like everything.

I eat bear regularly, while your statement is somewhat true (Bear can be almost inedible sometimes because of the gamey taste) if you luck out and shoot the right one, it can be far better than beef.
That's true... I've heard of people getting lucky and finding a good bear. I've never been that lucky. 😛

But your odds are definitely better with moose.

I agree

hell yes i would. i would hunt it...eat it...mount it...etc...they make AWESOME rugs and its a cool peice to talk about...i dunno if the meat would be tastey but people around here think deer meat is gross and i love it 🙂

The best wild game is elk, then i'd go venison, then caribou and moose are tied. Never tried bear.

i would eat it why not? as long as it tasted good i would def at least try it. if it was as good as steak or somethign why not, now if it was too gamey or expensive them prob not but i would try it

My family on Oregon Trail lived almost exclusively off of bear meat. Good enough for Oregon Trail, then it's good enough for me!

On a side note I have a bad habit of driving my car through 26ft high rivers and live in constant fear of dysentery. 😛

My brother shot a young black bear. In our family, we eat what we kill, so we ate ground bear burger for a year. It was too tough to make steaks from. It was almost unchewable. We mixed one-third bear to two-thirds beef to make it edible. That was 40 years ago. My brother is still a hunter, but he has never shot another bear!
