Always wear one because I'm fond of staying alive here in the US. Mostly there are only 1 or 2 people in either of our cars and the cars whine and nag us if anyone is unbuckled.

When i'm in an uber/etc i put on a seatbelt as i don't trust the driver, when it's family driving a car i don't, however i'm almost always the one driving so it might be once a year. Why? i have no idea...
That's interesting, do you trust other drivers on the road? Where are you located?

I wish they did that for backseats as well but I believe only Volvo does as of now. The law was supposed to be implemented for this to be standard on all cars in 2012 but it has not been approved yet which is unfortunate.

so you trust all the drivers coming at you in the opposite lane? lol
lol no f'n way, i meant i trust the family member/friend that is driving to be a good driver and it's almost always in a rural area going into a small city (40k) , if i where sitting in the backseat while someone was driving in a major urban area i would be buckled up, that's also the only time i use ride shares though.

I just don't see why people don't wear seatbelts anymore, it's not like its inconvenient.
*snip*

OMG! You're such an obvious sexist, privileged white male!

You don't even consider the needs of women, or how difficult it is for them!

You've obviously never struggled to breathe wearing a seatbelt, you have no idea how scary it is!

WEARING A SEATBELT IS INFRINGING ON MY RIGHTS!

Not sure if that needed a /s (sarcasm) or /s (serious) tag

Sorry deadlyapp, for singling you out and/or if I offended you.

Anyway, I always buckle up and think everyone else should as well.

Thank you for your answer. Where are you located? Did you vote above?

Texas / US.

I voted just now for "Yes and sometimes in Uber, Lyft or taxis". Really, most of the times when in a cab I'm either by myself (for work travel) and have no problem buckling up too.

Truth be told - the answer is Yes - always even inside of cabs... EXCEPT... I can totally relate to this post

Voted. I just don't see why people don't wear seatbelts anymore, it's not like its inconvenient. The only time I won't wear a seatbelt is if its three grown ass men crammed into a small backseat and I don't want to fondle the man next to me.

Always. I'm not a big fan of flying thru a windshield or out the window onto the pavement head first and possibly get ran over during a collision.

.. so obviously you can tell this thread has me shook. I'm not gonna go all trump here "not dying infringes my rights" but i can tell you, putting on a seatbelt while sitting on the back seats would feel weird. Like, super weird. Like if i had to buckle up when going to the barber.
actually it kinda reminds me of the Toilet Safety Administration segment from South Park:

Unless your barbers chair hurtles through busy traffic at 60mph I'm not sure how that is at all analogous.

A few years back after arriving at work on a chilly morning ride on my motorcycle another guy pulled up and I started talking to him about how cold my hands were. He said his hands were nice and toasty because he was wearing ski gloves (I was wearing leather motorcycle gloves). I asked him what would happen to his hands if he had an accident and went skidding across the pavement. He replied, "I don't plan on having an accident." I think that about sums up some people's thinking when it comes to safety/protection when riding a motorcycle or driving a car. It'll never happen to me... until it does.

Is being thrown around violently and unsecured in the rear seat of a car safer than being thrown around violently and unsecured in the front seat? Ask Tracy Morgan how well that worked out for him.

A truck driver crashed into the back of a limousine van carrying US actor and comedian Tracy Morgan, injuring him and killing another man.

The crash happened on the New Jersey Turnpike when Saturday Night Live star Morgan and his friends were returning from a performance given by Morgan in Delaware.

Morgan was left in a coma for two weeks and suffered a broken leg, broken ribs and head injuries. Three of the other passengers were also injured and McNair died.

The safety board report said Roper had not slowed down sufficiently before the crash, despite warning signs of road works taking place on the turnpike.

It said the truck was doing 65mph in a 45mph zone before the crash happened.

But the board also said Morgan and his friend should have been wearing seat belts and their limo should have had adjustable headrests, which could have minimised their injuries.

same, my cousin's grandma never buckled up and got thrown headfirst through the windshield and into the intersection

miraculously she survived it but recovery took years and it really messed up her short term memory

I voted always, but it's been...8 years since I was in a back seat...and probably 10 years before that.

Comment why or why not and please post your country/location. Thanks to all.
For the simple reason I'm not stupid.

Also after 30+ years as a volunteer firefighter/first responder, and covering a couple of bodies in the middle of the road that were ejected in a roll over.

Always wear one, whenever wherever. I prefer to be attached to the moving vehicle and not tossed around like luggage. Never wore one in the back as a kid though and it only became a law to wear one in the rear seats about 15 years ago. Texas.
