i sure wish mine would but i realize that Virginia will be brought down with the empire.

this is a public poll and just think it over if you're not sure at first.

nope, but I'd love it if we could hold a nation-wide vote to expel Florida from the union.

50 is a good solid number. How about we keep the state but expel all the people? Put them on rafts and send them to Cuba or some such thing?

if you want 50 we can take canada. we just tell the international community canada is the 50th state. it's not like they're gonna fight back.

And let it be known that on this day a compromise occurred in the P/N.

do we really need all of Canada, though?

can't we just seize the oil fields and poutine factories, and leave the rest for the Queen? I mean, we need somewhere to deport Justin Beiber to.

If my state seceded in the morning it would be bankrupt by afternoon. Arizona is firmly suctioned to the federal tit (and we'd like to thank the taxpayers of California for your donations).

People born in chains apparently do not recognize their slavery. They believe this slavery empowers them, provides for them, nurtures them. Is that what Obamacare did for you? The NSA, TSA, the Patriot Act?

Are you all so stupid as to love those things? The whips of your master.

I am for State's Rights, and failing that the dissolution of our Union. I am for the breaking of chains and the rights of Liberty and Freedom, the rights to forge your own path untethered by needless sycophants in Washington DC.

I am for you to be slaves no more. Vote yes, and find freedom as your forefathers did.

Yes because then we could jack up energy costs for the east and west coasts and finally get our flying cars...

Heh the obsession with leaving the union isnt well thought out imo. It would immediately destroy the local economy of the state that tried to leave. Then would come the military confrontation. And for what? I know we have all sorts of issues within our country, especially at the federal level. But nothing I would consider revolution worthy yet.

No, I'll just wait for the long oppressed inner city ghetto poor to rise up and kill their wealthier urban neighbors, allowing the remaining suburban and rural populations to go about their lives in peace and harmony.

A decent firewall, and a couple of feminists should be enough to hold the ATPN warriors at bay

well, it's better to have long term gain for short term pain isn't it?:)

anyway, if virginia seceded, then the northern part of the State probably would probably secede from the rest of VA to stay in the union (which i would be fine with as it is their right to do so). plus the northern part of the State is what brings the rest down because the northern part supports more public spending and is infested with govt contractors which is where most of virginia's revenue comes from.

the only pro-liberty alternative to secession, imo, is the States reinstating hard money from the bottom up and if that was unconstitutional then i dont know what is given that the constitution says the States are banned from spending anything other than gold and silver.

that said, i just dont think that the federal govt is going to get any less powerful, it's only going to get worse. and even if the federal govt became less powerful, it wouldnt become less powerful for long. and we dont have any Ron Pauls in congress now... rand paul is not really like his father at all considering that the former is a supply-sider (he would rather reduce the top marginal rate than cut the payroll tax even if the latter reduced govt revenue more).

Give your reasons for your opinion. What benefits do you get for not being part of the USA? You realize you will get no federal funding don't you? How do you think states build highways. Almost every High School, College, and Grades school receives federal funding. What about Social Security?

So what benefits would you receive?

Oh noes, the citizens of those states wouldn't have Uncle Sam around to take $10 out of their right pocket in taxes, and put $9 back into the left pocket after the bureaucrats and politicians get their cut. How would they ever fund essential services for their state if not for someone in Washington D.C. telling them how?
