Do you use ZoneAlarm?

Do you use ZoneAlarm or any other "firewall" software?

Do you prefer using a hardware router as a firewall? Or do you use a router just to share net, leave it open and use a software firewall? Or do you use both? Do you like ZoneAlarm best, or do you actually prefer another program? Is there another program that's better for free? Is it worth PAYING for something like that?

I use AtGuard, haven't had any trouble thus far. Used to use Zonealarm, but AG takes care of most ads on websites, so its the way to go. Kind of a pain to set up, but after that, works great.

Cool, where do you get it? What kind of ads does AG block? I use Popup Killer for popups and it does a pretty good job although it's missed one popup...

Are you trying to find targets?

Yeah, you figured me out.

Wow, you're so cool, and clever! Not.

I highly recommend not using ZoneAlarm. It used to be an excellent, free firewall, but now it has so many problems it forced me to format recently.

I use zonealarm in 3 of my pc's. And a pop up killer to bob the pop's. So far so good. I use the free version of ZA. 🙂

Go to google and search for it. It's free. It doesn't always block popups, so I would still keep PUK up, but it blocks most banner ads, so you don't have to wait for them to load.

Interesting, thank you for sharing. What kind of problems did it create? I would like to know. I just set up ZoneAlarm, I have used it in the past though. The only "problems" I've seen was ZA screwing up games, by asking if you wanted to allow access while you're trying to play.

Just software now. I'd like to get a hardware router/firewall/switch, but I have absolutely zero cash, so I can't get one right now.

Hmmm... it seems that whenever I have ZoneAlarm open, nothing works (and internet lock is disabled). Wow...

I use the free version of ZoneAlarm. It works fine, except that it blocks my access to the network printer, so I have to shut it down every time I want to print something.

I used PUK to try and rid my computer of an annoyingly persistent pop-up ad. However, I quickly uninstalled it, because it made my computer unstable.

I have a router with a hardware firewall and I use zonealarm as a backup. I've never had a problem with it.

marksman1uhm1: You need to add that printer to your local zone in the advanced tab in security settings.
