I'd love to use NTFS, but how about accessing files thru a command prompt (cmd from within windows) ? Is it still possible ?

And can I convert it easily (XP Pro) ?

Actually, the NTFS file protection won't help me since this machine always uses my logon and it'd be suspicious for my fiancee to use her own logon all of a sudden. :) Or does NTFS offer a different type of file protection ?

What else ?! Oh and not to mention converting my 95% used 130GB of space would take forever and a half.

I've used NTFS ever since I switch to Win2k... now I use XP and still use NTFS. I like being able to set permissions on files.

yep

For me,

I used to use Fat32 but it crashed on me and gave me file name errors and such when I used mutliple languages to name my files.
i.e: Files in Korean and files in English.

Now I use NTFS and haven't gotten an error like that yet.

NTFS

When I want to read linux files, i use a windows program to view the ext3 file system read only and copy any files I need.
When I am in linux I mount the NTFS filesystem read only and copy any files I need

Though those are rare cases.

NTFS on my ThinkPad. HPFS on my PS/2. (Bonus points to whomever can tell, without google, what OS used HPFS.)

amen!

Move into the year 1999. You can boot to an NTFS from DOS. You just need a slightly modified boot disk.

poll?

why not use ntfs all the time?

the only time recently i have used a fat32 partition is at work, we needed a certain model to have a 3rd partition that is accessible from DOS, so we made it FAT32

Hmm... If your hard drive dies why would you be able to get to it from DOS??
