do you use gaming a headset?

Yeah i had them awhile back. I liked them for the money that i spent on them. I also used them on the 360 when i had them. How much you getting them for? I think they have the newer versions of those. I think they are called the 's.
 
Dunno if it's labeled "gaming headset" but I use and love my Razer Orca. Comfy as hell, great sound (i'm no pro so anything that sounds good...well sounds good 😛), nice deep bass. I use them for movies, music and mainly games and i'm really happy with this buy.

Only thing, the color...I'm a bit reluctant to go out with those lol...

I am going to make a short case for not getting a "gaming headset".

1) Gaming headsets are usually cheap in just about eveything
2) Poor build quality, poor mics, but most importantly really poor sound quality.
All of this makes a headset a bad investment, its not going to last very long and its not going to deliver very well while you have it.

Good surround sound depends on accurate sound, clear soundstage so that the positional queues (the delay, the HRTF in general) can be heard and give you direction and distance information. For that want good sound quality.

So instead of headsets get a decent pair of headphones, likely ones that will last you a decade or more. Then get yourself something like a modmic to fullfill the mic side of things and all will be well. More outlay but cheaper and better solution in the long term. These gaming peripheral makers are not experts in headphones, they really ought to be avoided.

I've got a Logitech g930 (wireless, 7.1 surround sound), and I've been very pleased with them. When I'm playing BF4, and I shoot an enemy, I can always hear his team mate yell things like "We got a man down here", and I can easily judge what direction and about how far away they are. It really adds an advantage for me in game. I'm not an audiophile, but I don't really believe you need to be to appreciate this headset. I highly recommend them to you without hesitation.

I use Logitech G35's now, but I use Turtle Beach x31 wireless (think that is the number) for my 360.

Imo Turtle Beach makes good headphones, and the wireless is fantastic... I have them setup in a basement, and I can go to the top floor of my house or outside and still have a perfect signal. They are generally light (my G35's are about 3x the weight of my TB's), and I've dropped them plenty of times with no issue (where one drop destroyed my first G35 - the earphones are held on by one tiny plastic cylinder (wtf)).

If you have rechargeable batteries and a charger, I'd look into TB's wireless sets; mine lasts about two days of HEAVY use, and takes a whole 20 seconds to switch out to new rechargeable batteries.
 
Beam forming microphone from Creative and ATH-m50's. Personally I think you get so much more value by picking up a great set of earphones and a separate mic. Your voice won't sound as good but games/music are soooooo much better. To get an equivalent "gaming headset" sound it'll cost you almost twice as much.
 
To anyone here that isn't recommending some type of surround sound headphones: You haven't experienced the joy of knowing exactly where your enemy's footsteps are someone from.

Do yourself a favor op. Surround sound for a true immersive gaming experience.
 
Yes. Much more convenient with the built in mic. I used to use HD 558s, but could never find a good mic. Most stand-alone microphones I found either sucked or were too clumsy a solution. The Modmic seemed promising, but they always have stock issues and the product doesn't even seem to be finished. I think it was a year ago I thought "hmmm, I will just wait until they iron everything out and have them in stock." Yeah, so much for that. Got some Logitech G430s and they are good enough.
 
I currently use Creative sound blaster wireless omega ones. They are good, but not too comfortable and start to hurt after a bit. They feel a bit tight on me, and i have a small head. I have to take them off for a bit to take a break.

I used to have Logitech G930 wireless and those were really comfortable but i was having some interference issues with them. They sound kept getting cut off so i sent them back.

My old xbox 360 Tritons pro+ are awesome. The connector where the mic plugs into was going bad, but the sound and confort level would not be beat.



I think the Logitech G930 was the best, but i didn't have a chance to try them for too long due to the cutting off issue.
 
Hearing people with surround actually got me a few kills tonight. I use quality headphones and a mod mic. Had a G35 and it was good, but nowhere near as good as this new setup. Used with SoundBlaster ZxR sound card.

i have this too, and i love them. Good sound quality, i dont make much use of the 7.1 since i mostly use them to play LoL but the wireless thing is PRICELESS. Being on skype talking to a bunch of friends on the loading screen of a LoL match and going to the bathroom to take a piss without taking my headset off or going to the kitchen to start cooking something while the matchmaking finds an opponent and being able to continue talking IS PRICELESS

They're the updated ATH-M50x, I should have them soon. I've heard a lot of praise for the ATH-M50.

I don't play any stuff where I use my voice, currently. I've always hated dealing with hearing all the idiots on voice comms and such. Been a long time since I used voice, I guess for raiding in WoW was the last time. Been a good few years at least.

I have a mic on my PC though that I can use.

+1 The G930s are the best "gaming headset" i have ever used. They launched at around $160 +- and now can be found for much less. I still have mine.
