skype. we use it for conference calls sometimes so we use it for IM too. it works OK.

adium. we use aim at work and so i use msn, icq, my 2 aim accounts , 2 yahoo accounts etc in one IM client.

Technically we have Sametime (part of Lotus Notes) available, but I don't use it since a) Lotus Notes blows, and b) most people I have to talk to are sitting pretty close by, so I might as well just walk over and talk to 'em if I need to.

I've used MSN at a job before. Rather useful since Intel is so friggin huge, saved me a lot of walking.

It can be used to paste pertinent screenshots and URLs, etc. If you're wondering why not email for that, the purpose is to solicit instant response - something you're working on right now (I hate jumping to other things while unfinished). Or... you could just email them and yell over at them to check it out and respond to you. Your choice. ;)
