I use an alarm clock. I don't like hearing updates, phone calls or, texts when I've gone to bed.

Same. I would smash my phone if it did that to me. It’s bad enough when I forget to turn the sound off on my PC and it doesn’t go into sleep mode. I’ll hear emails, updates blah blah blah all night long.

I'm 63 and usually wake up just before my alarm clock goes off. I've been on this schedule for like 25 years so my body is just trained to wake up.

Ill brag that in my 30s i could wake up within a 10m window *without* alarms.

Also, unrelated, at one point i had a wind-up clock with the two bells on top, and a little hammer ... woke me up waaay better than electonic beeping. More awake and less pissed off.

Phone for the last 10 years. Don't need an alarm clock to do what a phone can do. An alarm clock is just one more piece of unnecessary technology to take up space on my nightstand.

An alarm clock is literally the only thing that is on my night stand. I'm not concerned about it taking up space.

I'm 56 and use an old iPhone 3GS as my alarm clock, but I don't use my daily use iPhone 5S as an alarm clock.

A few years ago I went to Radio shack and asked an employee where the alarm clocks were and he just looked at me like he had no idea what I was talking about. I explained to him what it was and he pointed me to one of those ihome speakers. I dont think they had alarm clocks in store.

I used an (radio/CD player) alarm clock for years, from high school until about a couple years or so ago (I'll be 36 tomorrow, fml).

Then for a while I used my phone. I like the "Timely" app for time/alarm stuff and have multiple alarms set because I've been known to shut off my alarm then fall back to sleep (more likely when I'm really tired).

But then I got an Amazon Echo Spot and now I use that, although I still set an alarm on the phone too for a backup. I need two because while it's not frequent, like I said I'm liable to turn off the alarm and fall back to sleep.

Do not disturb mode is your friend. You can even have it automatically turn on at night.

I'm late 20s and I use my phone for an alarm and have since I was a teenager (pretty sure flip phones had alarms in them)?! Everyone my age that I know uses their phones as well.

I have a clock on my nightstand so I might as well use the alarm. I use my phone when I travel.

Phones have replaced alarm clocks just like they've replaced cameras for the majority of people. I still use an alarm clock, but I also use my phone as a backup.

I've been sleeping through my phone alarms lately. I've had the best luck with my watch alarm these days. It vibrates my wrist awake if it's not already awake and busy.

Have never used any kind of alarm and have never had a problem getting up on time or being late.

44 and I use the alarm on my phone. Granted, I'm almost ALWAYS up before it goes off.

Also, if your phone is bothering when you're trying to sleep... you're doing it wrong. Put the frickin Do Not Disturb mode on it. Once set on mine, it only makes a noise for my parents calling or work (neither of which would normally call at those hours anyway so it's probably important).

I use a clock radio when I'm home. I like it because it has a backup battery. I use my phone when I travel.

My 1980s alarm clock died so I bought a new one like 10ish years ago, cheap Timex with 2 timers and basic radio functionality.

I can set my phone as an alarm, but, i prefer to have seperate alarm clock.

If I miss a 3am call from work because I was sleeping, it could be bad since they generally only call overnight if it's an emergency.

You shouldn't need to use an alarm clock to wake yourself up for work. It just means that you're not getting enough sleep. TBH, you should be able to wake up on your own. I get about 7 hours of sleep a night. I like to get to bed by 10pm so I can wake up at 5. Then it's to the gym, meditate, make bed, shower, put lunch in bag and then it's work. Now, what I've been using is something called a work down alarm. All that means is I will set my phone alarm for 9pm. When it goes off, I have 1 hour before bed. So, I'll start unwinding then. I turn off the laptop. I meditate. Journal. Then it's shower, setup my preworkout and gym clothes for the next day. Then I'm in bed. I'll use my phone to play some white nosie as that puts me in a faster, deeper sleep.

In a perfect world, people's jobs/careers would be compatible with their Circadian Rhythm. However for many folks who have delayed sleep phase syndrome, the alarm clock is a necessary evil.

I'm always sleep deprived because I never am able to fall asleep earlier than about 2 no matter what.
And even then, getting asleep by 2 is tough. If I don't pay close attention to time, I can easily find myself awake until 6 or 7am before I start to feel sleepy. But, I need to be up by 8 to get to work. Which is impossible without alarm clocks.

And yes, you can quit caffeine, use light therapy, unplug all electronics, go to bed at the same time every night, take melatonin, and do all the otther things that Doctors have been suggesting to me for the last 30 years, and, it's very limmited how it helps. Some people are just hard wired to get tired at the wrong time.

I use a clock-radio, so I can wake to the sound of phone-in shows featuring furious arguments about Brexit. Nothing like the smell of Brexit in the morning to set one up for the day with just the right quantity of anger and despair.
