Well congratulations -- you learned a new online insult! Perhaps I should call you an id-10t...

Now, do you think 8GB is all you'll ever want on a phone? Do tell so we can have your statement on record.

Look, if 8GB is all you want or need fine, I want more and have stated my reasons for it.

Brian

if you read a few posts up i made it clear i was giving you a hard time. don't be so butthurt about it. do i think i'll ever use more than 8gb? no, probably not. if it changes in years to come, you'll be the first to know.

32GB is built into my iphone and ive used basically all of it. i have apps, pictures, thousands of songs, music videos, podcasts (plenty of apple keynotes that take up tons of GB), and etc.

One final post on this issue ...

I am on the road a lot and for weeks at a time so the music I don't bring I can't listen to. I picked up a 1st gen 16GB iTouch a few years ago and still have it but the battery is not lasting so long any more. I then got my first smart phone, a 3G iPhone that replaced a Moto Razor and it to was 16GB. I managed to fill both of them very quickly and if I were going to upgrade to the newest iTouch I would surely get the 64GB version because between the 16GB of music I have I would like to be able to have a decent amount of video with me as again, I travel a lot.

Three months ago I replaced my iPhone with the Evo that came with a 8GB card. I had to pare down my music selection to fit on it and there have been many times I wished I had music that I didn't download to it. If I had more memory that would not have been a problem. A few weeks later I picked up a 16GB Sandisk card and for a time my music collection on the phone was complete, but when I did the Froyo update it hosed my 16GB card so I've been limping along with the 8GB card again -- UGHH...

So, I would love to get a 32GB card when the prices come down so that I can have all my music and have room for other things like movies, apps and data. One thing I think we're going to see going forward is the use of your phone as kind of a personal cloud that YOU control and can't easily be data-mined. I can see the day when you sync all your devices to your phone as it has your data. But, to do that you need the storage.

Last question: if it were the same price would you have 1TB of storage or would you opt for the 8GB version?

16GB is plenty? Please, I have 16GB of music alone so a 16GB card would be filled before I put any pictures, apps, video or data on it.

It's just a phone? Please, it's a smart phone and you can do things beyond talking!

Come on folks, this is the 21st century and phones are for more than talking now a-days...

If I could put 128GB in my phone I would -- and I'd use it!

Just because people use their phone different than you, or have different priorities than you, doesn't mean you need to be a dick about it. Seems to be a trend for you across multiple threads.

Anyway, I have 8GB, and it indeed is plenty for me. I still have 4GB free in fact - and that's with my OS actually running on the SD card.

Sounds like an discussion I had with my wife. She keeps asking why I put a few movies on my phone. My response - because I can.
If the price was right for a 32GB card, I'd get one. Just can't use the excuse of 'because I can' to justify spending the money right now.
After music an movies, my 16GB internal has about 2GB left.

Boy, you seem to have missed the fact that it was others telling me that I shouldn't need more than 8GB and that I should just stream. That's not me telling you or anyone else what to do it is in fact the other way around! Looks to me like someone else is holding the disk -- and stroking it!

What you wish to do is your deal but don't tell me I should stick with 8GB because that's all YOU need.

There are many things that storage can be used for and music is just one of them. Video is very memory intensive and having just a few decent quality movies can easily run into many GB's. And, as I mentioned before, the smart phone offers a tool to provide a personal cloud that you control and can't so easily be spied on for data mining or more sinister purposes. Having the storage on your phone to hold ALL you data and then automatically or manually syncing with your laptops and desktops at home and at work is something we will see more of and will require the phone have the storage to handle it.

Look, you don't have to agree with me but calling me names and accusing me of demanding others do as I wish when in fact it was the other way around is just ignorant.

Meh - its not my issue if there is a growing trend of you having a negative or condescending attitude towards other posters. If you don't want to be called for it, don't do it.

Variety is good, if I could have 64 gigs of space on my Android for music I'd do it, that's about my collections size. It would have nothing to do with my e-penis because I wouldn't actually ever tell anyone how much music on my phone.
