I turn it off, but that's because a cellphone without signal (airplane mode) is pretty worthless, so I'd rather have the full battery when I arrive at my destination.

This, but I don't turn off my iPad. I just put it away without turning it off.

This. People think they're so important.

cell phones have become an electronic lonely hearts club. Even if nobody calls / messages they can sign up or get app's for all kinds of superfluous notifications thus satisfying and taking the edge off their lonely lives.

I don't. I leave all electronic devices on at all times to see if the plane will go down. As of yet 0/35 planes have went down. I don't like people lying to me.

Next they will tell me that tucking my head between my knees will save my life.

How about All of the Above? Havne't been on a plane in over 10 years, and have no plans to ever again. The quality of air travel has plummeted over the last 15 years. Flying coach nowadays is like being a caged animal on the way to the slaughterhouse.

You should try jetblue.

Just put it in airplane mode and listen to music. Note 2 last a ridiculous amount of time in airplane mode and my flights I'm on are in the 2-4 hour range. That barely burns a few percent of the battery in my experience. Since I do travel often for work, I do check my mail once I land since meetings and even length of trip can change while in the air.

Airplane mode, and I play games the whole time and just keep it out of stewardess view.

If it was a real threat, there would be countermeasures.
