I turn mine off. i could put it in airplane mode but i wouldnt use it since i have my kindle anyways.

I do always find it funny to watch as soon as we land and they say go ahead and use phones, how half the people have to pull out their phones and dive right onto facebook and crap. Hell last flight guy i was sitting next to was on his phone on facebook (yeah i snoped a bit) right up till they said turn it off. Soon as we were in the air he gets his laptop out, uses the internet and opens facebook (plus some other stuff to be fair). I just was dumbfounded like is facebook that fing important to people?

airplane mode.

usually when I'm on a plane, I'm listening to music or podcasts through my cellphone and reading a book on my tablet. (can't be assed to maintain two music libraries.... I keep my music and podcasts on my cellphone because that's the easiest way to listen to it while commuting to work)

Airplane mode. It turns off the radios so it's not searching for signals. Plus my phone has a pretty beastly battery (Note 2) so I'm not worried about low battery issues. I normally listen to music in flight on my phone.

I've only been on a plane once (well 4 times for 1 trip), I think I left my phone turned off in the checked luggage. I honestly don't remember. I was mostly glued to the window enjoying the view. 😛

There's a blanket ban on cell phones because the FAA doesn't have the resources to test every single phone model and keep up to date with all the testing for interference.

Also note that the ban is not just cell phones - it's all electronic devices. Again, it's because there is no way to test everything for interference so they just ban everything just to be safe.

Thus, this ban in no way confirms that cell phones actually cause interference.

I don't fly.

/thread.

You picked up the ATOT way pretty quick, although not very subtle. Ok, I'll bite, why don't you fly?

Is it a fear of gravity, too expensive, have no desire to travel anywhere far, don't want to "submit" to the TSA, or something I am missing?

airplane mode then turn it off when asked to. i'll play my game or watch a movie when we are at altitude. and just read the inflight magazine or other mags while taking off

How about All of the Above? Havne't been on a plane in over 10 years, and have no plans to ever again. The quality of air travel has plummeted over the last 15 years. Flying coach nowadays is like being a caged animal on the way to the slaughterhouse.

I turn it to airplane mode, but I also often listen to music during takeoff and sometimes turn airplane mode off prior to landing (you can get a signal pretty high...:whiste🙂

Only been on a plane once. I think I turned off the phone. It was an old flip-phone when I was on the plane. There was no point to having it on.

Now? Probably airplane mode. I have an iPhone. I could breeze through a few podcasts during the flight.

I don't use my phone on a plane only because I want to have a good amount of charge when I get to my destination. I have a Kindle for the plane.

I turn it off because I don't need it anyway so I don't care. Also maybe the interference thing is real, when in doubt it's better to comply.

it's either off or in airplane mode. I read print articles or print books. I can't read anything digitally--certainly not on a tiny device like that.
