Do you trust your Insurance company?

Of course. I actually read my contract and read what I sign. They are bound by law.

And change your poll. NO INSURANCE COMPANY denies medical treatement.

I trust them to make as much money as they possible can. What are you actually trying to talk about? Its not like you are going to hire them to babysit your kid or something...

He got the talking points emailed from Nancy to demonize the insurance companies as the bad guys in the health care debate.

Profits are evil!

It's hilarious watching the people attempt to demonize every industry that makes money. First is was oil, then pharmaceuticals (who do so much good it's not even funny), the banks, then insurance companies.

What industry will be next?

If you're retired you can use Tricare for everything else.

Medical? Yes.

Auto? Yes.

Home? Somewhat. Though they've made me have my doubts that they'll be responsive when/if we ever really do need them.

WTF kind of agenda thread/poll is this B.S.?

3% is a huge profit now days?

Companies exist to make a profit, if they're goal is to not make a profit then they're doing it wrong.

If they don't pay for the care you don't get it. Unless your a millionaire and pay the hospital yourself.

Actually my neighbor's kid is very sick and the insurance company won't pay for the care he needs even though it's in the contract.

Don't need to attempt to demonize them they do a great job of it themselves.

should insurance companies make the %3 profit they do? yes.

I doubt it's really 3%, bet that's some inventive accounting.

You're right, the average is actually closer to 4%.

I don't care what they show for a profit %.
It is not that hard to keep your profit looking low when you know ever body is looking at.
Mask it in "expenses"....

more or less.

I was in the hospital for a week back in December due to a blood clot and left without ever having to pay a dime out of pocket.

Obviously government agency with no accountability and competition and does not operate cost-consciously will have lower expense than a corporation who has to be accountable to its shareholders and has to compete with other corporations. Clearly, all the CEOs call each other up and agree to inflate their expenses to appear they are "only" making 4% profit margin.

they did a good job.

I mean, they were doing a horrible thing but doing it efficiently.

My medical, dental, and auto insurances have done exactly what they're supposed to and what I expect of them, so as far as "trust" applies, I suppose I do.

The trick is to pay out huge salaries and bonuses and call them expenses.

Don't have health insurance. I trust my contents and car insurance companies to fulfil their side of the contract that I carefully read, understood and signed.

The government is accountable to the voters. But I suppose in a country where Bush re-elected it must be difficult to believe that that constitutes real accountability.

You're asking the wrong question, OP.

You should be asking who people trust more with their health insurance: politicians elected in 49 other states, or the insurance company selected by their employer?
