I alway tip 15% or better. If that got too expensive on top of the delivery charge I'd order from somewhere else. If everyone did that then the pizza place would eventually reevaluate the necessity of a delivery charge.

I only tip the change, 18.00-17.25=.75 cents tip. Thats the normal tip for Dominos 555 at college, hell the guy only has to drive 2 blocks to campus.

Edit: AND its a college with 5000 students living on campus at any one time, so someone is always making a delivery of pizza.

Lets put it this way, I tip the same guy about $5-$7 a week. Hell what tip does he deserve for driving 2 blocks.

Basically, you realize you are tipping like a bastard but use all those excuses to excuse your behavior. Just tip normal and you won't have to make up excuses. .75 cents is basically no tip.

I'd hate to see the "extra" toppings that wind up on your pizza.

i'm sure the guy's thinking the same thing about how you don't deserve a clean pizza for tipping less than 15%.

Go pick up the pizza then. It doesnt matter how far he has to drive.

You are a cheap ass.

EDIT: by the way you are eating special toppings each time.

Places with no delivery charge: Absolutely.
Places with a small ($1-2) charge: A buck or two.
Places with a freaking 15% fee???: Hell freaking no.

no, he probably makes about $10/hr.... if people made $30/hr being a pizza boy, wouldn't you think more people would do it?

No he doesnt.
He missed out on a $3-5 tip because it was his turn to take your pizza.

Stop worrying about how much he makes. You are obviously the minority

Why are you trying to defend yourself if you just admitted that pizza delivery guys make a lot of money? They make money because people tip them. You dont so therefore you are cheap.

BS. You also fail to understand that he also does kitchen prep (likely), boxes, cleans and washes dishes at the end or his shift, and likely has many more duties than just being a driver. It isn't as if he just drives around with a bunch of pizza and people throw money at him...

2 minute drive, 6 minutes dispensing pizzas and money to 10+ people, for the sake lets say $1 each, and another 2 minute drive back. Sit for 5-10 minutes waiting for pizzas to finish. Do that 3 times and hes got $30 for a few hours (inbetween 5-8pm), then give him whatever crappy hourly wage he makes and thats roughly $30 and gas.

Your understanding of how pizza delivery works simply proves you are a spoiled kid who is likely about 18 or 19. Probably never worked a real job in your life or ever had someone explain to you that money doesn't appear out of the sky. Believe what you want, but delivering pizzas isn't just driving around and collecting money by the bundle.

pizza drivers average 3-4 deliveries an hour on a busy night.

Where the hell are you getting your figures from?

Yes, I always tip the delivery guy. I normally give at least $5, depending on how much I order.

I used to work at a pizza place and the drivers generally made about $15/hr. That doesn't count the miles they put on their car. They got paid for the gas, but not for the miles.
