I'd answer, but I don't want to take the time to read the thread.

(this joke was probably done two dozen times in this thread already, wasn't it?)

Hehe, are you a feline?

I'm like this too. I get bored easily, and my mind tends to wander a lot, but when i want/need to focus i can. I used to love taking tests because of that hyperfocused feeling i got while taking them.

I was diagnosed with ADD and believed in it for a short period. Then I realized that I just used ADD as a copout and that it was just me. I quit believing in ADD and just began to focus. I maintain a cumulative 4.0 GPA so I think I'm doing okay :)

Once again the people in this thread who have stated that there is no such thing as ADD or ADHD are talking out there ass and have no idea what the hell they are talking about.

My boy has ADHD which has been confirmed with multiple cat and MRI scans, his attention span is a whole 30 seconds no matter what he is at the moment doing and don't give me that sh!t about poor parenting.

Without medication, he cannot function in society or even within the family setting, with the medication (Aderall) he can at least have concentration enough to function some what normally.

If you do not know what you are talking about, you should not make any comments.

You can thank the idiot doctors and parents, who turn to medication to deal with normal childhood issues, for the attitude that people now have about this disorder.
Yes, I'm sure it is real.
But the majority of people diagnosed do not have it.

My little brother was diagnosed and put on medication in middle school. He was having trouble in school and would claim to have completely forgotten about his homework. Of course, my parents' divorce had nothing to do with his trouble. Nope. Much easier to medicate him instead of dealing with the real issues that were causing him to be depressed and not motivated to do well in school. Funny thing is that he could sit and play on the computer for hours without being distracted.

Well, now he's 14 and smoking pot. When my mom caught him, he told her that he needed it to feel good.

How many kids are on ADD medication without ever having had an MRI or CT scan?
If you look at what are supposedly the behavioral signs of ADD, they basically describe the way almost all children are.

People are quick to jump on the "disease" bandwagon because it takes the responsibility away. After all, if your kid has a disease, than it's not your fault and you don't have to take any responsibility. What kind of message does it send to a kid when you teach them they are not responsible for their own behavior and they "can't help it"? What kind of message does it teach them when you tell them they need drugs to function normally?

Roger, this is not directed at you. But the real cases seem to be a smaller and smaller minority of the diagnosed cases.

I'm sure if everyone took Strattera for a few weeks it would make some kind of difference. :p that's how mind drugs work...
Actually, no, it's not. Strattera doesn't even work for many people with ADD.

Often, people with ADD, depression, and other conditions treated with "mind drugs" struggle to find the medication and dosage that works with their particular biochemistry.

you have lazy-ass disorder.

i thought at one time i had ADD
turns out im just a lazy ass too. ill look at a cup that needs to go to the kitchen...and go to the kitchen without it - im *that* lazy

and im impatient.

and i dont care about alot of things that go on so i dont pay attention to them, so i dont read a 4 page thread unless theres something absolutely hilarious about it...which isnt that common

I try to read threads in their entirety if they are interesting, which is why you've never caught me in a Skoorb effect. Unless I'm in a hurry and I just have a quick blurb to add or counter a specific post, and/or the thread is long and boring.

Plus when I see one of those "find your way out of this room" puzzles I like to figure it out and won't put it off till later.
