Do you think you have ADD?

If a thread has 4 pages I won't even attempt to read it all. I know I will most likely see something shiny in the time it takes to read it and try to catch it.

you have lazy-ass disorder.

I have better concentration than I used to. A lot of people use ADD as an excuse to cover up laziness. If you're able to sit in front of a computer for 5 hours playing the same video game and claim to have ADD I'd have issue with that.

I was diagnosed with it as a child. IMO, it's a made-up and worthless "disorder". I can't believe that they pump people full of pills for something so silly...

I'm not sure if... what was the question?
If you can't even enter one of these threads without making some typical predicable stupid joke about ADD then you - well, did anybody see those new britney pics?

ADD itself I can see as being a disorder. The fact that it is used to cover up laziness and sloppy parenting in schools now and drugs are thrown at the problem makes me angry, though. Just because a small child feels like making a paper airplane instead of listening how to add one and one does not mean that they have a mental disorder.

i've never been diagnosed but when i was younger i used to have trouble concentrating but i've worked through that now. for me it was just a matter of discipline but then it's possible i never really had ADD.

and to the OP i don't think avoiding reading all 4 pages of a thread is ADD, i think it's just laziness, since i do the same thing too 😀

I think I must have some sort of ADD. I remember at my interview for this job I was asked something but answered a different question completely. But I tend to ramble on so I think it confused them enough to forget what they asked me and I was able to... What?

There is a difference between attention-deficit and a short attention span.

Personally I think ADD is a made up disorder to describe the way young boys have always been.

You never see a girl diagnosed with ADD.

On the flip-side, a lot of girls are getting diagnosed with bipolarism, in an attempt to make an excuse for their mood swings. 😛

I think I have the opposite of ADD. If I take on a project I even put off eating sometimes to get it done as soon as possible. I try to read threads in their entirety if they are interesting, which is why you've never caught me in a Skoorb effect. Unless I'm in a hurry and I just have a quick blurb to add or counter a specific post, and/or the thread is long and boring.

Plus when I see one of those "find your way out of this room" puzzles I like to figure it out and won't put it off till later.

I'm not sure. Sometimes I wonder if I do have ADD, but other times I think it may just be a cop-out. Speaking of cops, can you believe I got pulled over this morning to weaving back and forth on the way to work? It's not that I wasn't paying attention, but I have so much stuff going on. With the server roll-out coming up, there's barely enough time to breathe, let alone eat lunch. I'm thinking about Greek food today. I could really go for a gyro...

My cousin, who is a girl, was diagnosed with ADD at an early age. She's 20 now, but she is basically a poster child for ADD.

Once again the people in this thread who have stated that there is no such thing as ADD or ADHD are talking out there ass and have no idea what the hell they are talking about.

My boy has ADHD which has been confirmed with multiple cat and MRI scans, his attention span is a whole 30 seconds no matter what he is at the moment doing and don't give me that sh!t about poor parenting.

Without medication, he cannot function in society or even within the family setting, with the medication (Aderall) he can at least have concentration enough to function some what normally.

If you do not know what you are talking about, you should not make any comments.

Many consider it overdiagnosed, though regardless it does help some kids concentrate. Is your son able to concentrate on anything for long periods, like a video game?

Negative, no matter what he tries to do, he cannot mentally stay focused, sometimes when he is at the dinner table, he forgets to eat.

OK, he's got it pretty bad 😉

Are there side effects to the medication that he takes?

Before the medication did your son get frustrated and feel bad that he could not concentrate even when he wanted or needed to?

I can concentrate on video games, but I sure as hell can't concentrate while sitting at a meeting, or taking a test, or even sometimes while watching TV.
