As long as at keeps people like you out, it will be worth it.

Wouldn't any social progress, now would we? America must be made great again. After all, slavery did great things for the economy, Jim Crow made sure the blacks had great manners, and the Native Americans can go back to Nativia.

It'll be grrrrrreat!

If you lived here for as long as I have you would be quite aware of all the social "progress" of the last 50 years! Some acceptable others quite unacceptable, including the removal of religion from schools. Now we have nothing but social decay and chaos.

But oh, to reign in hedonism is akin to acceptance of slavery!!

It would take longer than 4 years to build. Especially with all the lawsuits that would hit it. I mean a train from la to sf is gonna take like 20 years to build. Just another broken promise trump told the low iq masses.

What greater hedonism is there than unfathomable greed at the top?

When the vote to build the high speed rail from Los Angeles to San Francisco happened the promoters of the rail line lied to the people about how long it would take to build, they lied about how much it would cost to build, they lied about where it would be built, they lied about how much it was going to cost and they lied about how fast it was going to travel if/when it was built. At the time of the vote the Attorney General of California, the man responsible for honesty and integrity of the vote was none other than the biggest proponent of high speed rail Jerry Brown. The sole man responsible for the fucked up vote on the boondoggle of the "high speed' rail line. Trump hasn't even come close to being as big a liar and as dishonest as your precious Governor Brown.

Honestly, most practically all he has to do is let INS do its job with full encouragement. The INS wants to deport more people but of course the Obama admin held them back. I predict a symbolic wall is built and then hopefully it is neglected and twenty years from now no one remembers it.

In other news, holy crap, Mexico is rioting because of the ending of fuel subsidies.

I've never paid much attention to Mexico, but the article paints a political system more dysfunctional than ours. Which is why people oppose immigration in the first place: nationality reflects the collective ability of a people.

Which obviously has nothing to do with the Wall. You knew that, right?

He related it to building the wall in terms of time scale. You just used it to tear down Jerry Brown.
Not just Jerry Brown, but every lying piece of shit Democrat that supports him and his fraud of a high speed rail project. We'll see how the Trump wall goes after he takes office, right now it's just speculation. Unlike the obvious criminal fraud of the Los Angeles to San Francisco high speed rail project.

And the double down, of course.

this is a whole other topic. Brown is a great Governor. Southern and rust belts states will dream on their deathbeds that they had the economic/tech/creative and farming power that California does.

This idea of building a wall has already served its purpose: It helped Trump get elected. As ludicrous as it is to build this monument to abject waste, so too is the idea that "Mexico is going to pay for it" in the way that Trump wanted it to mean to those fools who so dearly wanted to take a bite out of that ridiculously lucious piece of putrid red meat.

Trump appealed to the raw emotions of those he targeted and then he purposely rubbed raw those emotions with such unbeleivable inflammatory flair such that the only folks who believed those lies of his were those that wanted to hear it being said. It didn't matter to them at all that building a wall and having Mexico pay for it was pure unadulterated bullshit. It appealed to the emotions of those that Trump was wooing and that is all that mattered at the time.

Trump simply targeted emotions as his way to victory and it worked.

As we have all witnessed since then, Trump has either gone back on almost all of those promises he's made to the working class and poor folks that voted for him based on those lies of his or he's outright dismissed them as "campaign rhetoric" that shouldn't be taken at his word. To add insult to injury, he's now filling his cabinet with those very swamp critters he said he was going to drain our government from. And from what I've been gleaning from the news, Mitch McConnell has already said all of Trump's choices will be approved so there's no disputing it from that angle.

Let's put to rest this idea that Trump really meant what he said and now actually means what he said about the wall, when all he's doing now is attempting to find a way to get out from under that "promise" of his and is wanting to make it happen in a way that is the cheapest and most importantly, the least damaging to that precious "image" of himself that he's created in the minds of his followers.

Worried that people may compare the Trump Mexico wall to the 8 year old 64 billion dollar + failed Democrat bullet train? You're happy with Brown lying about the whole high speed train boondoggle, allowing the promoters of it to lie on the ballot to get it approved by the voters. Just another glaring example of Democratic hypocrisy.

"Eight years after they approved funding for it, construction is years behind schedule and legal, financial and logistical delays plague the $68 billion project."

there will be projects with issues no doubt, especially the larger scale they are.

at least high speed rail is a worthwhile shot.

Europe, Japan, China - they all have solid high speed rail. Especially among our busiest auto routes like the Eastern Seaboard, we need high speed rail.

"Lo, Californians, ye have suffered for decades with no coastlines, utterly flat terrain, and frigid year-round weather for far too long. If ye believe, I shall open to you the most spectacular natural amenities known to mankind. Amen." ~Jerry Brown upon his first inauguration

If Trump was smart, he would just mandate a minimum one million dollar fine for each illegal immigrant that is found during an immigration audit.

You do that, and you just created a "job wall" for illegals. No business would be crazy enough to hire them anymore with the threat of instant bankruptcy.

All you need a few high profile immigration raids where the entire company is shut down, and those jobs will disappear overnight. The illegals will quickly find that they need other places to go find work.

I wouldn't even bother building the physical wall at this point. It would just slow down the people running back to Mexico to find work!

Of course, I can't see Congress or Trump's cabinet promoting a bill like this, knowing that they'll have to spend an extra $5 hour to hire US workers to mow their lawns and shovel their driveways.

Gawd. No Repub Congress will do anything remotely like that. It'd be bad for business.
