some dude on the interwebs did a rough estimate and found it will cost 50 billion dollars. that does not include the 20 thousand guards to patrol the thing after its built.

So I am thinking "no".
Are you kidding, those are the new jobs he promised his voters.:p

Whatever they waste their money on, I'm looking forward to all the ways people get around it.
Just so I can laugh and laugh.

I've seen other assessments by independent reviewers coming up with similar figures ($25b-$50b+). I'm sure the lower figures did not include litigation expenses, which will be massive.

Plenty of private landowners over hundreds/thousands of miles who don't want a giant fing wall on their property and cutting off river access.

Customs and border patrol budget is $13B for everything.

They may end up putting up just enough to make it look like they're really doing it, but I don't see a full wall happen. If it does, I guess people will just climb over or continue to tunnel under, so it'll add several minutes to the trip to the US.

Trump looks to be cleverer than I anticipated. He ran away with the principle of "It's not as important to do something as be seen to try to do it". Don't know but I think it won't happen as sold, but as you say a section will go up, the rest unfinished and Trump will blame the "establishment" for stopping him. It will work. No wall and he looks the aggrieved party which bolsters his position

Aww, C'mon. Trump wants some massive achievement, something visible from orbit like the great wall of China. 40 feet tall & 15 feet thick on foundations 40 feet into the ground. Guard towers within sight of each other from the pacific to the gulf. Rows of concertina wire & strips of land raked regularly to reveal any footprints in front of it. A sensor array that can detect a gnat fart at 100 meters. Paved high speed roads behind it for rapid response teams armed to the teeth. We can privatize the whole thing so that the guys at the top have a money making concession.

He'll use it as a political push for the midterm elections by blaming the dems for it not being done/completed. Stupid people are duped once again.

Naw, won't be necessary. Even though most people give Congress a low approval rating, they believe their representative is not part of the problem and will vote for them in the midterm election.

Great wall of China is not visible from space.

The most commonly cited example, the Great Wall of China, is barely visible from low Earth orbit, and even then only under perfect conditions, but not from the Moon.

So let's make the Trump wall even bigger! Make it easy for alien visitors to see our stupidity before they get too close!

We'll need bunkers, too, like in Albania!

The legacy Trump is going to leave us with will be nothing short of epic.

And to think this will all be on the GOP's dime when this goes down in the annals of history. Well, this all couldn't have happened if not for the timely and ill-begotten help from those trusting folks who bought into Trump's fairy tales and Putin's helpful assistance with Hillary's public relations efforts.

And folks, as you all know, the previews of Trump's Relocated Reality Show at 1600 Penn Ave. have been getting rave reviews from the GOP loyalist Gilligan Gullibles in the peanut gallery and all the way up to those trusting patriotic folks on K Street.

But let's not forget that it's the winners who write the history books so there's going to be some conflict in the historical records whereby Trump's campaign for the presidency was masterminded by the DNC and Hillary's campaign staff who cleverly and very discretely engineered his win, thereby exonerating Putin, the GOP and Trump himself from any responsibility for his being elected.

Come to think of it when we take a look at Trump's own labor pool the wall would be counter productive for him to build.

Well yeh- It's the Kenyan Mooslim voodoo time warp mind control Hillary learned from the black usurper that forced 'em to vote for the Donald. Jade Helm was cover for the installation of the super sophisticated mind wave generating equipment in key locations all over the country. Fluoridated water is the only reason it works in the first place, obviously.

I think this supposed wall is a metaphor more than anything else. It symbolizes prejudice and hatred that many people in America (and elsewhere) have. These are tribal people who are opposed to the truth and only want to live in their own little reality (or bubble).

So it doesn't really matter about the wall or whether it is built or not. The people who support the wall got their little puppet in office. They will continue believing what they want to believe regardless of truth.

The only effective wall i remember is the Berlin one, and that's because they shot at anyone trying to cross it
