For X-mas my dad got me one a peformance driving course. Mind you I don't drive fast or do anything crazy on the road, but I wanted to see what cars can do. You would be surprise how slow/bad people drive. It was eye opening. They show you all kinds of things...specially how to get out of trouble.

Ever since I have new respect for cars.

Considering most of America could not handle driving in NYC and that is where I live/drive, I think I'm an above average driver. I'm not perfect (and I've only been driving for a couple of years) but I can handle my self on highways and in the city.

Seriously, I swear I'm going to have an aretery burst every time I have to drive in the city. Its a good thing NY isnt a concealed carry state, because at least a dozen yellow cabbies would get shot out of pure rage every day. In any single day of city driving, it would be impossible to actually keep track of how many violations/dick moves that I witness or am a party to.

Ive nearly been ticketed once when I cabby cut me off by making a left from the center lane on madison ave, of all places. Got me caught in the box, and I swear to god if every single cab didnt look like the next I would have hunted the bastard down to the damn river if I had to.

That being said, Im probably a bit above average, because I never take stupid or even marginal chances, and only gun it when theres no one in front of me.

Honestly every single person from NY i've met is horrible, horrible driver. You guys just drive like a complete asshats...

I'm actually gonan be in manhattan the next 3 months and theres no way i'm bringing my bike up there. Y'all just can't drive, period... i'm certain someone would cream my ass within a week

that's right you better not bring your bike punk! :p

i witnessed an accident on LIE where the yamaha was flattened, crushed; being lifted onto a flatbed. :Q dunno what happened to the driver and rider.

edit: ps, worst drivers are in cali. people in oakland and la drive like turtles run the marathon.

I have about the same amount of training as the police do maybe a bit more...
4 racing licenses coving bikes and cars in road racing and drag racing..
25 different classes on high speed driving over the years...

I think I'm in the top 5% of drivers on the road...

Here's why I said I'm well above average:
I take an active interest in working on my problem areas.
I have driven everything from a two door hatchback, to a pickup truck with a 35' trailer.
I can usually spot the idiot of a crowd a mile away.

I'm not saying that I'm the BEST, most of the people that are better than me are far better.

Definitely not like a stereotypical 20-somethings. I drive exactly the speed limit, and I use signals even if I'm the only person around. My wife gets mad at me for driving so slow.

Although I'm not all over the road like old people fvck.

So you're the guy I'm tailing on the highway doing exactly 65. Do me a favor and stay out of the left lane!

not only am i a pretty safe driver, i can handle a car very well in sticky situations. once this old lady pulled out in front of me at an intersection. she had a stop sign..i didn't. but then she panicked and just stopped in the middle of the damn intersection. i was going like 45, so to avoid t-boning her drivers side door i had to hit the brakes, slide the car counter clockwise..steer back to the right and then punch the gas to get the ass end to slide back around. i had barely any clearance because of the two drainage ditches on either side of the road. got through it with out any contact. bet that bitches heart skipped a few beats though.

I'd say pretty good. 3 accidents in the past 9 years, 1's my fault. And numerous close calls thanks to other drivers. Accident free for the past 7 years.

I consider myself well above average. In addition to driving on the street, I drive race cars (sanctioned by NASCAR actually).

I don't know how good of a driver I am, I haven't gotten enough feedback. Most people who have commented said I was a "good" driver, which of course is what you say to EVERYONE who isn't absolutely horrible. I like to THINK I'm slightly above average, but of course so does everyone else. So, probably average.

As there's no real objective gauge for how good you are, folks are naturally going to consider themselves better than the other guy. They may or may not be aware when they themselves screw up or make a poor decision.

While I think I "can" drive very well, I'm sure I make some stupid mistakes.

I was going to say I was average or maybe slightly above average. Then I remembered how amazingly sh|tty almost every driver I encounter all day is, I voted myself well above average.
