I dunno...all i can say is "ignorance is bliss".

<< No, you are all wrong, Watch the 13th floor and you'll find out the truth. >>

no, watch fear and loathing in las vegas, then you will find out the truth

The Maetryx

Seriously though, no way. Not the way it is in the movie. Think about the principle of the conservation of energy. They would spend more energy keeping us alive than they could harvest from us as "batteries". That part was really weak.

I suppose they could make up some kind of retrofit where they say that these creatures that control us can only live off our brain waves.

Well, sure, it's possible. It's also possible that God created the world spontaneously 2 minutes ago and implanted all your memories into you. Your entire existence could also be as a character in an alien computer game, or perhaps a Truman show. Is it productive to think of things like that? In other words, have you been offered a pill or something that we can admit into evidence here? Possible, yes. Probable, no. Rational, no.

Pics? 😉

Maetryx: What law of conservation of energy? The one imposed on our world to limit humanity's ability to transcend? Yeah... that's what I thought. I'm with ya, MeanMeosh

I agree, its all about the 13th floor.

we are all a vast computer simulation where the species controling us can test out stuff like AIDS and communism 😀

Actually, within a couple of decades, we Humans will be capable of creating vast worlds inside a computer, populated by living beings.

A Matrix inside a Matrix inside a Matrix inside a Matrix inside a...

Confusing, eh? 🙂

Our whole solar system is actually just the supporting system of a fingernail cell on the member of a gargantuan society.

or maybe its like in dark city(far better movie then 13th floor) and we're all just a giant alien experient with planted memory/identities🙂

I'm pretty sure this will happen sooner than you think. There are three challenges here: creating photo-realistic graphics, gigantic worlds and realistic AI. A few weeks ago i read an article where a number of major game developers were asked when they think we will start seeing photo-realistic games. All agreed that photo-realism in gaming will be achieved in the next 5 to 7 years. We already have gigantic online worlds and realistic AI. So when will we see the first "world" simulation? Within the next decade. I don't think that the AI beings living in the simulation will think that they are alive though, but i know that they will act like it.
