Do You Think Carrying Around a Knife is Normal?

as long as it's not too long. otherwise it might be considered a concealed weapn. I have one of those buck knife key chains that has one bright led light on it and a stubby but very sharp edge and point.

Useful for some scenarios, I guess. But not really the ones you mentioned.
Chances are, if you are attacked, they will outnumber you. And probably at least one of them will have a gun on them. I would think the last thing you want to do is pull a knife on a gun-toting thug.
Cut off your seat belt - in the very unlikely scenario this will be required, maybe. But why not keep one in the car for this purpose?
If you get hungry...wtf?

IDK, I don't really see the point. But then, I hate toting around extra stuff I will almost certainly not need. I already have wallet, keys, cellphone, mints, contact case, and usually some random change filling my pockets.

Back in 9th grade there was a time when everyone carried butterflies...but just for showing off tricks in the break rather than stabbing teachers 😉

think those are illegal😛 and even normal knifes over 2.5?2??" are illegal on government/school grounds. switch blades/butterfly knives are illegal anywhere i think.

always see em around christmas.. other ones have cheesy sharp cone spike thats supposedly for hamering glass or something silly. big ol chunk of cheap plastic.

lol, one of my friends got one for christmas.

btw, 0roo0roo thanks for the heads up on that sale. I'll give my gf one and keep one for myself.

Of course you wouldn't want to play hero and flail around a knife only to get shot. But i'll be damned if I'm stuck in a situation where it's either me or him. I'll go at him with whatever I have.

A couple guys at my school were up late playing xbox one night. These two robbers came iin with guns attempting to rob them. Suprisingly, they fought back and beat up the robbers pretty bad and even got the guns from one of them. They ended up shooting one iin the groin and beating the other to a bloody pulp. The robbers only lived because the guns jammed on the group of guys who owned the place.

Needless to say, they were damned lucky. I know that had nothing to do with knives, but I still kinda want one to keep in my room/car.

Well, at least it was legal in the Germany of 1990 😀

I don't carry knives anymore today, I learned to kill with my bare hands 😛 😉

i find it a little weird. if you're assailed, your toothpick will probably be worthless vs. their gun. besides where are you that you are being attacked?

Who says they will have a gun. Also, which is worse, spending 20 bucks for 2 knives or potentially being in the "Oh ******, I wish I had something to stab the bastard with" situation.

yea i remember it was legal somewhere around there. but definetly not here unless its tiny. think under 2" or something. which reminds me, that last scene in face off with the daughter was totally illegal then!

I dont see anything wrong with it.

I carry a fixed bladed knife clipped to the inside of one of my pockets. I've never had to use it to defend myself, but I have used it to open letters and boxes.

Personally for self defense I prefer a firearm, althought if it were in a closer grappling situation a knife would probably be easier to draw and use though. Thats why its good to carry both.

I carry a pocket knife.. currently a benchmade daily, but its not for self defense purposes. Granted, if it came down to it, it'd be a decent weapon. Its just a very very usefull tool to have on me.

I carry a swiss army knife, but not for protection. It is a useful tool. It is normal to carry one, but not for protection. If you are worried about getting mugged or something, get a small pistol and a conceal carry permit.

i just remember stories of pitbulls clamping down on limbs or other dogs and people not being able to make it let go. knife would solve that right?

Or a can of mace.

10% OC is better. 😉 Or worse, if you get sprayed with it... I'd rather get shot though.

got a 2.5" blade on my keys which is handy for opening boxes, letters and all that. Realisticly, you'd not be able to get it out, unfold it and and effectively use it in a fight, I recon. those of you who have actually been in or witnessed a fight will know that it's all over in 30 seconds, and is nothing like the hollywood movies you see. You don't have a stand-off at ten feet, slowly circling each other or BS like that. It's a quick, very close quartered scuffle in a pub or club. Usually he who gets the first punch in wins. A better weapon for defense is a pair of steel toecapped boots that allow you to walk freely about, but give you the instand ability to bust someone's knees/nuts without putting your jaw within striking distance.

I carry a Benchmade Mini-Griptillian every day, but it's not for protection per se. I wouldn't hesitate to use it as such were the need to arise.
