well nvidia thought it was worth having a shill here trying to get people to buy nvidia cards. Why wouldnt a political party? Its not like its a lot of work. You could have a person work full time and get into 40 forums.

I noticed the same thing, thus, this thread, no way to prove paid VS true believer, so I guess it's a moot point.

I was going to say the same thing actually. I remember back in the day when some posters were paid by NV to post positively for NV and negatively for ATi. I dont think they should have been allowed to post, but oh well.
 
I work in digital media and the appropriation of time/attention/money is generally 90% to Facebook, 5% to Instagram and 5% to Twitter. Forums like these or even Reddit don't even register.

Well nvidia did it without telling anandtech. I actually haven't bought a nvidia product since that happened for that reason.

and yet we have record of the largest video card maker doing exactly that. You dont think nations or giant political parties would try to shape the narrative by creating it?

That's a bit of a special case; this was in a hyper-specific discussion area which happens to be one of the Internet's most trafficked (for that hyper-specific product area). I could see this site being targeted for CPU or video card discussions. Not so much for politics or other topics.

True they didnt know. They did get outted though, and should have been banned. Im 99% sure they weren't. I have always preferred ATI now AMD, but did buy both even though mostly ATI. I just got a Gsync monitor though, so building NV when I get home for BF.

I think it could happen here easily, and elsewhere. FB already does it, they were caught. I have zero doubts there are people one forums/twitter/etc who stoke the fires for both sides of everything. Elections, race, and everything inbetween.
 
Was rollo a mod? I cant remember. Keysplayer was and he was also in the nvidia system but it was known so who cares. Rollo literally got people banned for accusing him of being a nvidia plant. All I'm saying is it wouldn't cost much for nations or large political parties to have some people go onto all the forums and say things. If you can get others to say it then you multiply the effect. Now considering how horrible the trump campaign is there is no question they arent doing this.

Depends if you've changed your cabling from one pic to the other. I love this classic audio gear and it'd be nice to bond over that kind of stuff, but I believe in treating people better than you do. Though that may often be the case, even if it existed beyond college campuses and many HR departments, I would not cower in a lefties-only "safe space".

I mean, Ive been at AT for close to 3 years now, and it only took me a few weeks to realize the posters in the technical forums are like vicious flying rancors compared to ATOT or even P&N.
