I cannot see it happening. To defeat China militarily would require more than cruise missiles and air strikes, it would necessitate an invasion. The logistics of such an operation are mind boggling to say the least; which allied country in Asia would allow us to use them as a staging ground? I honestly can't see Japan, ROC, or South Korea allowing us to stage up mass buildups of ground troops on their territory, esp. with China's nuclear arsenal. Their missiles can't reach the US, but they can easily reach Taiwan, Okinawa, or Seoul.
That said, I don't think the US would even consider the possibility of war unless there was some sort of Pearl Harbor-esque attack by China on us. I don't even think if we would defend Taiwan if the PRC invaded them. We would probably just be waiting to sign new trade agreements.
You want to know what I think, The Earth is one big globe sitting on the coffee table in God's house. He's sitting around drinking a few beers with his buddies (Elvis, Jim Morrison, etc) and says,
"Check it out, they launch these missles at each other every now and then! Stuff explodes and people scream. I think they're gonna crack the fvcker in half one of these days!!"
That is the funniest thing I've read in a week! LMF'nAO!
