Amazon could easily just give you 2-3 free months of Prime to compensate. They already do it for other issues.

Exactly, if you just open a chat with them, there's a good chance you'll get a credit of some sort. Have done it for legit issues many times.

I'm not changing my way of life because Amazon wishes to not honor their commitment to my paid-for agreement. I canceled my order last night after I went to Target and got a toaster. Guess what? They sold it to me. No waiting three or more weeks. BUT I stand by the not honoring aspect and I feel the greed out there and expect someone to file a CA suit against Amazon for such bravado.

Now, all of you heathens out there can adapt to being screwed over. :D

I haven't ever owned or used a toaster. :p

Yes for sure, i hope they get sued into oblivion. Like its absolutely retarded what they are doing right now. Gf can still get beauty products shipped next day or day after, i tried to order 200 plastic card holders(for ID cards for my Employees for a ESSENTIAL SERVICE) and got a 5 week ship date.....

Like amazon can seriously go straight to hell the way they are handling this pandemic i doubt ill ever buy from them again. like seriously, make up is now more important to them than actual emergency services equipment? while you have a giant banner on the top of your website saying you are prioritizing covid stuff? LMAO.

Amazon = total joke

Do they at least have a list of what's essential and what's not? That could help a lot if they did. At least you know before you even order if you'll get it within a normal time frame.

Thing is they are so huge that really there's not too much they can do if now there is a sudden influx of orders because more people are ordering online. So it's not really entirely their fault. Best bet right now is to order from different places. The smaller and more local the faster you'll get the items. I've been doing my best to only order from places that are Canadian and get stuff within a week since it has less far to travel and they overall have less items to process since they are not as big as Amazon.

I'm sure one will happen and we'll all get a quarter while lawyers make millions. No thanks - just give me a couple of extra months free as compensation.

lol, government order, go suck on a lemon.

Can you point me to the "government order" which told Amazon not to ship things like toasters? Because I can order toasters from places like Best Buy or Walmart and get them quickly. Amazon did this of their own free will - not that I disagree with them either, but it was not required by anyone. The funny thing is that their definition of "non-essential" is very arbitrary - for example, a few weeks ago, I needed a Raspberry Pi. Most were the "you'll get it in a month" variety, but somehow, Canakit Raspberry Pis were the usual Prime shipping. The site is full of silly inconsistencies like that.

Maybe I'll set up a service where people who don't know how to toast without a toaster, post me slices of bread, I toast them for them, and post them back, for a small fee.

If I Paypal $400 extra will you ship overnight? I need my toast now dammit!!!

You mean all the Amazon warehouses are operating at normal capacity? Pretty sure there are places that are shutdown.

Also, not all things amazon sells are shipped by Amazon. It can come fr vendor direct shipping.

Whether they are or not doesn't have bearing on the question - Amazon made the decision on their own, not because of a government order.

The Pis were all sold by Amazon. My suspicion is that the kit was classified as a "computer" in their system while just the Pi unit by itself wasn't.

You guys know that there other sites other than Amazon to order stuff from, right?

Monoprice is still shipping things as quickly as they always did. Target and Walmart's online sites are still doing OK as well.

its done by their convenience, like others said they ordered aLL kinds of garbage and its shipped fast, i tried to order a trickle charger and it said the same may 8th, it didnt say april..-may 8th it just said may 8th, i ordered it from ebay and it came 2 days later, i ordered micro sd card few days after that and it came the next day along with a flash drive ,so they are just choosing what will take a long time and my guess is anything that cost more to ship they are doing it slowly and blaming the virus. if it comes from a different warehouse possibly? not sure why some things that are silly and unnecessary are shipped next day and others like a battery charger to use to charge your car battery is not essential.

Also, sometimes they ship me packages, and just simply leave out items. Yet, they show on the web site as if they've delivered them. They won't make good on those missing items, I've tried before.
But yes, Walmart ripped me off certain monetary value as well, by shipping an order of mine, and not shipping all of the items within the order, yet, marked them as shipped on their web site. That is not the first time that has happened, either.

Wow...I would never order from Walmart Again. How much did you lose?

Of course. I've been ordering from Walmart and even eBay when I need stuff soon.

You agree to binding arbitration or small claims court when you sign up for Prime. I bet if you’d ask for compensation right now they’d give you extra months. That’s what they will do if people starting filing claims because by the user agreement you have to give them the ability to make it right. I bet they will just do a blanket everyone gets x number of months free at some point.

Furthermore, a lot of this has to do with demand. They are have their highest sustained demand they have ever had and with warehouse issues that further slows it down. Yes their algorithm that determine what’s essential and what’s not needs work.

For the record all items for me that have quoted four week delivery times have all been delivered in less than a week. A lot of this has to do with the volume of fufillment centers in DFW and DFW not being as hard hit as other areas.

Hey guys, you can leave my argument out of the original question. I'm asking if you think some law firm will file a suit. I said I thought there would be one. If cooking appliances and utensils are not deemed essential for cooking at home during the shelter in place then every is eating raw. I just wasn't sure what Amazon classifies as essential, though. I did get a pair of Amazon Basic camera batteries, which I guess is higher on the essentials list than cooking item. LOL

If the item you're ordering is out of stock or unavailable to ship immediately, the shipping method time starts when the item ships. For example, it will take two business days after an item ships to reach you with Two-Day Shipping.
