Do you think a Class-Action Law Suit is inevitable for Amazon Prime customers?

I bought bread for toast. Amazon says toasters are not essential. They have it in stock in their warehouse but they will not obligate delivery until May 8th. I am being patient as someone wanting toast cannot have toast unless he gets out of his home and goes to Walmart and buys a new toaster. But the fact that during checkout with Amazon said my free Prime shipping was May 8th is denying the benefit I paid for and they are refusing to honor.

Now don't get me wrong, I get the whole pandemic thing and the need to get essentials to the people. Just suspend the whole Prime thing, prorate a refund and let's call it a day and be done with it. But Amazon has my money, denies honoring the benefit and I am betting some turd lawyer out of Texas will find a housekeeper and janitor in their workplace that fit the CA bill for the suit. What I don't get is why Amazon doesn't see this coming (what, greedy lawyers?) and has chosen to ignore this bit.

Damnit, I got one of those freaking big boxes of Eggo waffles and I can't toast them! Can i go to Walmart and buy a toaster and then charge Amazon for having to do that since they can't deliver unto me a toaster in their warehouse withing 3-4 weeks, thus nullifying the Prime directive?

People sue for all kinds of dumb shit, so probably. This is gonna blow your mind, but you can solve your toast dilemma by making a foil construction, and making toast on a stove burner.

If church services and WWE are considered essential then I have no problems with your toaster being essential.

You can also toast them in the oven on broil. Although you will have to monitor them and flip them over manually.

You poor thing. LOL

Toasters are basically just a wire that gets really hot due to current going through it. Find wire without insulation, make a zig zag pattern that is held by hooks inside a wood frame, run current through it and you got a basic toaster element. Normally you'd use nichrome for the wire but in a pandemic situation you'll have to make do with what you have and just use a lower voltage to componsate for lower resistance. You can make two if you want both sides of toast and rig some kind of slot for it. I would not run it unsupervised and wood may not be the best material but it's probably something you'll have on hand and it's non conductive. Don't use plastic.

5v rail of a computer PSU should be enough, though I would maybe PWM it so it's not a complete dead short. 555 timer at 50% duty cycle should do. Time to dust off the old parts bins. :p If that does not heat enough you might be able to go to the 12v rail but I'd lower duty cycle.

Disclaimer: I never tried this and it may require experimentation and to be aware of any off gassing of whatever materials you use, but in theory it should work. Worth a shot. Now I'm actually curious how well it would work, call it the corona toaster. :p

Just pop them in the microwave. I don't see the problem here. :confused_old:

EDIT: Here you go, OP:

Toasting bread in a microwave is an expeditious way to prepare multiple pieces of warm bread at one time. If you only have a standard two-slice toaster -- or if your toaster is broken -- the microwave is a helpful first step to making toast. The difficulty with toasting bread in a microwave is that microwave energy is used to heat the water molecules in food. As a result, warming bread in the microwave will leave you with a soggy toast. The trick is to use the device in conjunction with a toaster oven.

I get the OP is trolling but Amazon will likely just give people extra free months of Prime.

I think Wal-Marts in some areas aren't selling non-essential items as well, but likely wouldn't be toasters. Some closed their electronics section for instance.

Lastly, can I sue you for being too stupid to know how to make toast without a toaster?

What's fun is my state has a "bottle bill" (extra fee charged on carbonated bevs, that you're supposed to get back once you "return" them for "redemption").

They're still charging the fee, for purchases, but all of the local grocery stores have shut down their redemption machines. What's up with that
???

If I just throw them out, I'm losing out on a nickle a can. On several 24-packs, that starts to add up to dollars.

fry the eggos in a cast iron pan. They should crisp up nicely.

I'm not changing my way of life because Amazon wishes to not honor their commitment to my paid-for agreement. I canceled my order last night after I went to Target and got a toaster. Guess what? They sold it to me. No waiting three or more weeks. BUT I stand by the not honoring aspect and I feel the greed out there and expect someone to file a CA suit against Amazon for such bravado.

Now, all of you heathens out there can adapt to being screwed over. :D

lol. If Amazon banned you, how much crying will you do? You would be throwing absolute fit and begging them to take you back. I'm glad you were able to shop at other stores other than Amazon and bought the toaster from Target. That's what normal human being would do. You're showing you're almost normal. :D

Not sure what OP is complaining about. Earlier this month I ordered the following from Amazon:

Gum
SSD
Book
Dust collector attachment for router
Vaccum port adapter
Speed square

And they were delivered within the week.

I have noticed that some items say they will arrive by April 27-May 8, or a similar range, but it seems in most cases they arrive much earlier. You might not get two-day delivery, but you will most likely get whatever you want within three or four days.

You can't just assume something won't work out for you, without even trying, and then whine about it. Order the damn toaster from Amazon, then come here and whine about it when it takes two weeks instead of a few days to get to you; don't whine when you didn't even order the thing and give it a chance.

Maybe I'll set up a service where people who don't know how to toast without a toaster, post me slices of bread, I toast them for them, and post them back, for a small fee.

The Toaster issue should really be under first world problems. Us second and third worlders have no problem toasting bread. I have had no Amazon issues. I order at least every other day. Recent single item orders: Irobot parts, upholstery tacks, 7X2" trim screws, Bobby pins, Dog jump, Dog agility hoop, slow feeder dog bowl, Tite bond wood glue,Pop corn, Cocoa. Almost everything coming within 2 days and zero issues. Second order of bobby pins came Sunday ordered Saturday. Using them to hold wax foundation in frames for bee hives.
As far as I can tell your problem may not be normal.

I had been ordering stuff from walmart.com. Best I can figure, their warehouse is essentially running a Ponzi scheme, of sorts. Their web site allows you to order, when the item is in-stock. Unlike a normal business, they don't reserve stock in the warehouse, when you place your order. My orders show a ship date of two weeks out. They fill the orders as they come in, and stock comes in. I have to wait for the item(s) to go out of stock, and then, a few weeks later (hopefully!), when my order comes due to actually ship, then hopefully they have new stock by then. If not, the order goes into "Delayed - check back in a few days" status. Or when one of the items is in-stock, and the other item is OOS.

Also, sometimes they ship me packages, and just simply leave out items. Yet, they show on the web site as if they've delivered them. They won't make good on those missing items, I've tried before.

Edit: My understanding of what a Ponzi scheme is, is taking people's money, not giving them what they ordered or paid for, and then taking future people's money, and using that to pay for the items or whatnot for the original buyers.

That's what I feel is happening with Walmart's warehouse, they're taking orders, when items are in-stock, and then using those items to fill prior orders, and then making those buyers wait until NEXT TIME those items are in-stock again. If customers are forced to wait too long for their items, if they never come in-stock, then Walmart cancels those items.

I wasn't trying to claim that Walmart is defrauding customers, only that they are filling one customer's orders, with another's stock. Which I thought was essentially the essence of a Ponzi scheme, except with goods, rather than money.

But yes, Walmart ripped me off certain monetary value as well, by shipping an order of mine, and not shipping all of the items within the order, yet, marked them as shipped on their web site. That is not the first time that has happened, either.

OP is complaining about how long it would take to ship, but he didn't even order anything.
