Do you take the tabs off pop cans?

Martin

Judging from those around me, I seem to be in the minority but I always take the tab off. It annoys me too much.

ill drink cans of soda inside, but not outside.
i always worry that an insect has flown into the can when i wasnt looking.
i know bees and what not really seem to dig open soda cans.

nope. the sharp edges that result from taking it off annoys me even more.

Yeah, it does my head in to try and drink out of it with a little sharp tab sticking into my lip. Grargh. So no, I leave them on.

Same with me. Right after I drink my pop, I'll pop off the tab. Just an odd habit I have.

And to stop the repeated argument anytime this comes up: soda vs. pop.

It gets turn to the side until I am finished.. Then I rip the tab off and bring them to work. A coworker has a collection jar in the break room for the Ronald McDonald charity.

I'm the only person I know that takes them off immediately. Everyone in my family takes them off after finishing the can, though.

Pop-tops are designed to stay on for a reason. Before the modern pop-top, there was a pull-tab. You would remove the pull-tab and the metal spout cover. Sadly, tons of kids would step on them and get really nasty cuts on their feet. Little kids would find then on the ground and get cuts all over. Thus, they redesigned the pop-top to be a self-contained unit. You are supposed to leave the level on the can.

You're actually correct since Sprite is owned by Coca-Cola. 😉

I'd bet it's hilarious when southerners order a coke, and then wonder why the waitress didn't wait for them to say what kind they wanted.
