<ahem>

And no, I don't do this. 😛

I sometimes call soda "coke" on occasion...my friends give me a lot of crap - "What kind of coke would you like; Sprite plz" 😛

You're actually correct since Sprite is owned by Coca-Cola. 😉

I'd bet it's hilarious when southerners order a coke, and then wonder why the waitress didn't wait for them to say what kind they wanted.

Well in my defense, I say coke at fast food places cause I just want the stupid cup, and I'll go fill whatever drink I desire.

Judging from those around me, I seem to be in the minority but I always take the tab off. It annoys me too much.

how does it annoy you? OCD much?

No, it decreases the area of the opening. When you take the tab off, you can form a nice seal with the can, while leaving the tab on means you have to put your lip on top of it in a weird way or further decrease the opening.

in China, thats the only way to open the can! you have to peel it off completely. in the USA, no I don't remove the tabs

Right on! Goes the other way too..

Q: Would you like a coke, sir?
A: Sure, give me a Dr. Pepper.

:beer:

Nope. Stopped doing it when I was a kid. Think I went paranoid about aluminum 'dust' from the break getting into the drink. Come to think of it, I used to break it off and drop it in the drink. Nowadays, I just find it annoying having 2 pieces to worry about as I try not to litter.

No more so than when transplants here in the south, order a "pop" and the waitress/waiter has no f'ing clue what they're talking about.

I don't remove the tabs but when I drink beer from a can (rarely), I indent the area just under the opening about 1/2" so that my bottom lip sits in the indention. I started doing this back when I was in college because I thought it made the beer flow similar to drinking from a bottle. And the habit just stuck through the years.

You're probably not old enough to remember when they used to be like that here in the US. 😉
