Yes, all the time, and not just for nostalgic purposes. I never played a Fallout game until last year and now play the first two and Tactics all the time. Same goes for Rise of the Triad and Tyrian 2000.

Oldest game I'm playing currently is JA2. I was just thinking the other day I might try some of my old Talonsoft Battleground games in DOSBox and see if they work. I love those old strategy games.

agreed ... old 6x4 or 10x7 games on a 16x10 WS look horrible .. and 16-bit color of the pre-2000 games makes me gag no matter how good the story is.

To add insult to injury, GFX card manufacturers haven't kept backwards compatibility in their drivers with many old games - like Thief2, for example - making for some awful rendering and color banding with new systems.

Plus, if i played it *once* ... i already know how it ends :p
[i DO occasionally revisit expansions for old games and replay parts of games]

Homeworld sometimes, D2:LoD during long periods of boredom, and random other games when I have the time to get into it.

It definitely is old, but it's still a good game :) I've played it for oh so long, too long. I still have it installed in fact (Steam of course) but I don't play it regularly. When it comes to Half-Life modifications (the original engine) I mostly play Natural Selection.

I'm playing AvP 2 again, but only because I can't find a free program to turn a .img file to a .iso for AvP 1. In my defense for downloading them, neither are made anymore and i looked all over town for one, and am now considering getting the mac version i found of AvP2 just for it's CD-Key for multiplayer.

-edit-
When i started i was like "These graphics are HORRIBLE!!!" 5 minutes into the game (relearning the controls) i started to get more and more and more creeped out. Seeing the vent shaking as as a alien was going through it didn't help one bit, nor the predator picking off humans just one step ahead of me.

Graphics don't matter when you're in the dark, you're motion tracker has multiable targets, you're flashlight battery is almost dead and you're ammo clip is almost empty.

I am in the habit of replaying the Baldurs Gate series about once a year and doing things differently each time.

I still play Ultima Online regularly. A 10-year old MMORPG.

And I'm perfectly happy with the graphics. It's all about gameplay for me.

I believe video games are about the GAME. If I wanna see pretty colors I'll turn on the TV or watch a movie or just sit back and stare at my screen saver.

Since so many good games are from the olden days I still play many of them.

Deus Ex, FF7 (when it works), Magic: The Gathering (Microprose version), Master of Orion 2, The Baldurs Gate and Icewind Dale series, Alice, Alien Vs Predator 2, Elder Scrolls 3, Battlefield 1942, Call of Duty, Descent 3 (when it works), Doom 95, Duke Nukem 3D with the Win32 patch, Dungeon Keeper 2, Disciples 2, Dungeon Siege, Empire Earth, Freespace 2, Full Throttle, Grandia 2, Heroes of M&M 3, Homewrold, Imperium Galactica 2, Jedi Outcast & Jedi Academy, Max Payne, Mechwarrior 4, Quake 2, Red Faction, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Serious Sam 1st and 2nd, SimCity 3000, KOTOR 1&2, Star Wars Podracer, TA:Kingdoms, Unreal Gold and Unreal Tourny and Unreal 2, Undying, X-Wing Alliance, and probably a few others.

DAMN! Most of my library is classic titles.
I just dont like the influence of consoles on the computer gaming industry.

And like some others, I have played through Baldurs Gate 2 more than a couple times. Seems like I go back regularily to try a new class or class combo.
I think I still have an elf wizard/cleric that just entered the expansion area. Will have to load up again and see where I left him.

I play Starcraft every once in a while. Total Annihilation is always fun (Kingdoms as well).
Been playing the C&C series a bit as well. But i'm running these on an AMD 3200+ CPU and X800XL so the newer games don't work so well :) Can't wait to play some new games once I get my E8400 and 8800GT up and running.

Half for nostalgia, half for gameplay. I've been replaying Freespace 2 again lately. With the Open Source project, the graphics aren't half bad anyway (beam weapons look awesome!). On the other hand, Deus Ex looks terrible but has some of the best gameplay and story ever.

I haven't played it recently, but Full Throttle is also an amazing game. I'd play it again if I found the CD.

I'll whip out Diablo and its expansion pack Hellfire once in awhile.

And to use my waaay back machine I use an emulator to play old sega console games - Phantasy Star was lots of fun and nostalgia brings me back now and then.

I spend just as much time with old games as current ones, if not more. The dated graphics stick out for a few minutes when I load up the game after a long time, but I get used to them quickly and don't notice after a while. Some games have aged much better than others though and still look pretty good to me, even ones from very disparate years.

I'm currently going through Lemmings Revolution and Jedi Knight 1, both for the first time, and plan to replay System Shock 2 after that. I actually got Jedi Knight many years ago but somehow never got past the first few levels back then. I have also been playing Freespace 2 (SCP) online with some friends on another forum, pretty much every Saturday for the last few months. At the moment, the various content packages don't work online and the game looks no different than it originally did, although this should change in the next month or two.

I have a large library of old titles under constant and heavy play rotation. In fact I'm playing through Descent 2 right now (D2-XL).

That game had a number of fanmade mission packs that surpassed the original levels in many ways. I would especially recommend the Entropy series, Phobos Encounter, Project Mandrill, Encounter at Farpoint 2, Obsidian and The Kryllidian Krusade. Some of these have some exceptional level design considering the engine limitations. I think you can still get all of them at PlanetDescent. The creator of D2X-XL has himself also made a couple of excellent level sets that take advantage of the engine enhancements, which are on the program's site. I did a marathon run through all of the 150 or so D2 levels I had collected in D2X-XL just last summer.

Do you know of anything good for D3? I don't think D3's mapping scene ever took off the same way, at least for singleplayer, but there might still be some gems out there.

Regarding Jedi Knight: There are several model and texture packs released or in the works still on massassi.net that improve on the existing graphics while maintaining the feel.

I used to be part of the mod community for that game and still check in on it from time to time.

No sorry, the built-in maps from Descent 3 and Mercenary give me the fix I need.

That game really needs it as the stock artwork is simply shocking.

I tried to play doom a couple months ago. I used to be so over fascinated by it when it was first released. But now the graphics made me look at it much like i look at pitfall on atari.

I just installed and fired up Soldier of Fortune II multiplayer. Still addicting as before but COD4 messed up my gameplay.

I play Dragon Warrior 4 on an NES emulator on a regular basis when I get bored of current games. I played through Space Quest 4 again a couple of months ago, and I tried to get Under a Killing Moon to work, but the performance was horrible on DOSBox. Maybe I will try again now that I have updated my video card and processor.
