Yeah. Filipino.

A lot of people assume she's Mexican at first glance (we live in Texas and there are a lots of Mexicans here). If she looked more Chinese, I don't think she'd have as many problems.

Either way that's sad. I look almost 100% white myself but am in fact 1/2 Chinese. My mother is Chinese, of Malaysian birth.

Texas really isn't as bad as you would expect. The only real racism she's had problems with is in small towns. As a couple, we occasionally get weird looks from older people (of all races).

For whatever its worth, I've had many more problems with black and Hispanic people being racist to me than she's had with white people being racist to her.

Asking "Do you still call them freedom fries?" is sort of like asking "When did you stop beating your wife?"

Still sad to me. I don't think I've ever faced real racism my whole life. Vancouver is extremely multicultural. Our population is something like 20-30 percent Asian with a good mix of other cultures too. Although there aren't that many blacks here. Here's an official breakdown.

I see multiracial couples on a daily basis all the time.

Austin, Texas isn't bad at all. Its more multi-cultural and tends to be more liberal.

We're from Lubbock, Texas originally which is a good old boy bible belt town. Nonetheless, it wasn't too bad there either, except for a few of the older folks and a few of the black people (they tend to get pretty rude around mix-raced couples for some reason).

The small towns (<10,000 people) are where you start to see some nasty stuff. They're so nice to me, but very different to minorities.

In all of these cases 99.9% of the people are nice, acceptable people. But there are always a few racist jerks.
