Only in the most dire emergencies would I ever consider speeding, and then I would do so with focus and awareness so as to prevent as much recklessness as possible. You see, I'm a good person and as such I don't believe I have the right to threaten the lives of countless innocent people by screwing around in an automobile. As the poll is demonstrating most of you are ignorant, egocentric, self-centered, worthless wastes of human flesh who should have your licenses permanently revoked, if not serve jail time or execution for your determined potential attacks upon others. But hey, I'd expect nothing more from the general populace.
I wouldn't have phrased it quite like this, but thats about how I feel.
Driving a certain speed doesn't really bother me as much as people breaking the law and endangering others. I don't care how good you think are you behind the wheel. The fact is you probably aren't. Speed limits are set for a reason, often by engineers who take into account the curvature or inclination of a turn. They are also set in place to control traffic flow between lights, and when you speed to make the next one, you could plow through a pedestrian or someone not paying 100% attention when crossing the road because they didn't expect your dumb ass to fly through the intersection. This isn't just bounded by speeders, but you are more likely to run the light if you are flying and it turns yellow.
I do what I can to help minimize the possibility of hurting someone else, and staying at the speed limit or barely above it if I'm not watching accomplishes this in some capacity. I know, someone is going to say "if you are .000000000000001mph or 10000mph over, you are speeding" and I know this. I'm talking about the people with complete disregard for everyone else when they drive 10+ over the speed limit, especially in a residential zone. If you want to kill yourself on the interstate, go right ahead, but make sure you smash into something big and solid so you don't cause any collateral damage.
I don't automatically assign recklessness to speeding, but they often go hand in hand. Of course, many of you will think you are perfectly safe flying through a neighborhood or around corners, but I would call that reckless. Speeding on the interstate or big roads with more than 1 lane in each direction I would hesitate to call reckless but still ignorant since there is a speed limit for a reason.
