Only in the most dire emergencies would I ever consider speeding, and then I would do so with focus and awareness so as to prevent as much recklessness as possible. You see, I'm a good person and as such I don't believe I have the right to threaten the lives of countless innocent people by screwing around in an automobile. As the poll is demonstrating most of you are ignorant, egocentric, self-centered, worthless wastes of human flesh who should have your licenses permanently revoked, if not serve jail time or execution for your determined potential attacks upon others. But hey, I'd expect nothing more from the general populace.

So until you are speeding you're laying back in your seat, eating quesadillas, fucking your cat and pissing about with the radio. Only then do you pay attention, focus and have some awareness.

I'd rather you were an ignorant, egocentric, self-centered, worthless waste of human flesh. At least that way you'd be paying attention.

Wow. You fabricated a whole load of bullshit based on a complete and utter misinterpretation of what he said. Even if you can't see past the sarcasm, the bolded statement should have been enough to make you swallow that word vomit.

Would you like to review and see how good YOU are at detecting sarcasm.

EAT YOUR OWN WORD VOMIT, GO ON, SPOON IT ON DOWN!

I was very aware that you were being facetious, but you appeared to have missed the point regardless of that. Maybe not.

5 +/- 5 mph over the speed limit maximum for me... I rarely go into the left lane to pass because I'm almost always not in a hurry.

Reckless driving... only if I'm by myself on my own happy strip of road (which is 99.9% never)

:( I have no way to defend against this.

 That made this whole retarded thread worthwhile.

Now everyone go back to ridiculing and intentionally misunderstanding one another.

Here's some more fuel:

Speed limits are an arbitrary revenue generating device which has nothing to do with public safety at all, anyway. Flame on.

Always/Occasionally.

Almost always go ~9mph over. I only drive recklessly if I perceive someone else as being an asshole.

There is nothing more annoying than having the cruise control set to 9MPH over and have someone going ~65-70 switch into the left lane, especially just before you approach them.

I'll always get up on their ass and then pass them aggressively to show my disapproval if they don't move over. Assholes. :|

Or just people going 65-70 in the left lane, period. Get the hell out of my way.

I speed frequently and drive "recklessly" occasionally, but driving in a large city it is the norm. If you do not drive aggressively you will get no-where. When I'm out in the suburbs I maintain a +5mph over the limit.

Unless you're in full Rice Mode, I've found that a casual driving attitude + looking ahead > switching lanes like a douchebag trying to be first in line to the next red light.

I completely agree. Looking ahead and watching gaps and traffic flow will payoff more often than driving too aggressively. I finally learned that when I was about 22. It's amazing the number of times that I've been able to cruise at 5-10 over the speed limit and have some young kid trying to go 80+ pass me 5 times in 10 miles because he doesn't look ahead and keeps getting stuck behind people. Does provide amusement though. :)

speed yes
reckless driving no - but i have gotten a ticket that says verbal warning for reckless driving

stopped speeding that much as there were pretty serious consequences to my actions that were avoided only by getting a lawyer and paying the $$$

I agree, except for the jail time. They should all be executed. Repeatedly.

just stay right and you can do whatever you want. thanks

To all those with this attitude, people with our attitude generally try to, wherever feasible.

You should also be aware that in my particular case should someone driving recklessly ever cause a crash which I am a part of (but can walk away from) I will probably beat you until you are crippled if not kill you outright for endangering the lives of innocents. So go ahead and do what you want, but realize that if you cause a wreck through your actions you may end up dead, even if the crash doesn't kill you.

I try to maintain 119.3 MPH on most trips, running over anything I possibly can.

I don't find the two mutually exclusive. I applaud those who remove threats to others. We applaud criminals being removed. We applaud vaccines to diseases. We applaud soldiers removing our enemies. I find those that drive recklessly to be a threat to the safety of innocents, and therefore I will applaud their removal and consider those that do so to be good people. *shrug* just the way I feel about it.
