What happens if you take both of these at the same time? Do you get really whacked out dreams?

Actually no, I just pass out hard. Certain prescription anti-histamines, which will also knock me out, will give me whacked out dreams though.

Does ambien work pretty well?

I usually switch between doxylamine and benadryl; They work ok if I take them every second or third day, but don't work repeatedly. So I usually end up with every second night being a 3 hour of sleep fail night. :'(

Ambien does work pretty well initially but it's very easy to develop a tolerance so I have a take a break after a couple days. Like you, I also alternate but between marijuana and zolpidem.

Benadryl, for the most part, does nothing to me.

i kind of had it last night and kind of think i may have it tonight too cause i'm having a pretty rough day.

When school starts I usually do sleep regularly on the weekdays. Weekends it can change a bit sometimes.

But right now it's massively fucked. I'm staying up until like 5AM because I can't sleep and then waking up at 1:00PM. X_X

Sucks. On Christmas day I couldn't fall asleep until like 5AM after laying in bed, awake, for 4 hours trying to sleep... Then I got to get up at 9AM with only 4 hours of sleep to go see relatives. :( Sucked to dah max.

It helps if you don't drink soda and eat shit all the time, but I happen to right now. :'( I wish I could quit, but I think I will quit when school starts. (It's a lot easier then... I am not at home where the soda is! Although vending machines are tempting...)

I need to get a job to for myself back into a normal rhythm. I'm all over the place, though better than I was a few weeks back.

I've been wondering if we can actually train our bodies to get used to that. It seems like my body wants to be both awake and asleep longer than average, so I think something like 20/10 would work, but I'm not sure.

Now that I put some more thought into it, I think this fits me pretty well, too. I would love an up 20/down 10 schedule. Like another poster said, when I'm unregulated, I find my most productive waking hours to be between 10pm-4am. When I've had to get up for 8am work/classes I'm absolutely exhausted all day, but then I get a second wind around 8-9pm and won't be able to fall asleep again until 4-5am. It's absolutely terrible when I'm living an 8-5 work/class schedule.

My sleeping patterns could be hardly considered periodic and shifts by a few hours each day. From what I understand, our exposure to light, especially one that's near the color temperature of the sun, like our monitors, would greatly affect our internal clocks. It'd be my guess that this is the main reason I don't get periodic sleep.

D:

How do you guys deal with this?

My sleep cycle shifted during my senior year of high school by an hour, to multiple hours everyday. And some days I might be monophasic, and other times I might take 3 shorter naps to get through the day. Currently I wake up at around 5pm and go to bed at 8am.

I deal with it by coffee, ignoring my body, taking pills. I sleep when I'm tired, and only so. I refuse to go to bed if I feel awake and I should be asleep. I also find it very hard to fall asleep even when tired sometimes so that has something to deal iwht it.

I sleep 3-4 hours per night on average and often go 1-2 nights without sleep. Being an insomniac sucks :(

I get that pretty often too.
I find that eating before I sleep helps with that.

The worst is family holidays because I miss out on sleep to do family stuff but thats okay. I wish I could wake up earlier just to be on NPT(normal people time :D) but at the same time my schedule is great because It's so much more productive to be on the opposite side of rush hour and get my stuff done late when I don't have to wait in lines.

Hah that's a pretty positive way of looking at it. It just sucks when there's very few places that's open at those hours.

These days my schedule is pretty darn good -- awake at 6:15 on weekdays, asleep by 11:15 at the latest. On the weekends I let myself sleep in... to 8:30 or so.

Start going to bed earlier. I used to be the same way, but getting to sleep at very reasonable hours, like between 9 - 11 pm, has shifted my entire sleeping pattern.

It seems my body's optimum sleep time is from 4:00am to 12:00pm, as when I sleep those hours I'm the most awake the next day. Either way I try to always get 8-7 hours. I work a normal 8:00-4:30 schedule. I always have trouble getting up because I'm so tired, but it's something I just learned to live with. I'm sure I'm not the only one who hates getting up early.

I usually have trouble going to bed early as I have too much energy and the last thing I want to do is actually lie down and try to fall asleep. I usually procrastinate for 1-2 hours before actually making the move to go to bed lol.

Yep, doesn't really matter what I'm doing. I get to sleep by 10-11 pm. Lately my body wakes me up automatically between 7 and 8 am.

Got fucked over today. I probably had fallen asleep around 3:00AM or so and then I got woken up around 8:00AM because of fucking rotten children. AARGGGGHHHHH.. Bitches need to know how to shut the hell up and stop screaming all the time!

So I am a bit tired today, and I don't see myself picking up greatly. Going to be out late tonight too, ugh. >_<

When do you usually get up then? I wouldn't be opposed to trying to get myself to bed earlier, as long as I can then make it up earlier to get things done. I just don't have the hours in the day to sleep any more. :) If I could do like 9-10 to 6 or so I'd be ok with it. You find yourself being able to get up early and make it the day?

Never sleep regularly. Horrifying untreated sleep apnea precludes good sleep. I am narcoleptic during the day.
