I switch it up a lot.

Oh and the "dead arm" is kind of nifty sometimes. The first time I ever had it happen I was like "woah" and I started picking my arm up and trying to hold it up but watching it drop lifelessly onto me. Then the "acupuncture" began as blood started finally getting back in.

I also get this weird effect in one of my eyes where I go semi-blind at times when I get up from trying to sleep. The entire eye is darkened and I can barely see out of it, yet the other eye is fine. So if I time everything right, I can be semi-blind and semi-paralyzed :D.

I've had sleep paralysis a few times, I've always equated it to religion (thought there was something satanic in the room). I was raised catholic, very religious parents, catholic private school until high school etc... I'm curious if theres a source of paranoia before sleep, because theres a number of times where I had a funny "feeling" before I went to sleep and it ended up being a nightmare.

A lotta times when I've slept on my side I've felt something poking my back or even neck. It used to freak me out a helluva lot, never happens during the daytime napping. And I've had sleep paralysis, now that is scary has hell. Probably the earliest I've had it was when I was ~12 and I remember trying to hell to my brother for help but speak or move at all (seemed like a dark figure was there). I even thought my house was haunted for a bit, but itd only be in a my dream, and I've had them when I moved for college and a few other random places I've stayed. But waking up is always such a relief and by the time its light out its practically forgotten.

But I still sleep on my back because sleep paralysis seems to happen way less than the weird side poking sensation. Side poke is a minor annoyance but its probably happened ~50 times since I was a kid (I'm 22 now) vs maybe 2-3 sleep paralysis nights

I sleep on my back, any other position and my back is sore.

As for sleep paralysis, i use to get them very often when i was younger. Usually afternoon naps, but sometimes at night as well. After a little while, they never bothered me. You might want to look into lucid dreaming if you want to learn how to actually control a sleep paralysis (i use to distort the sleep paralysis into dreaming that i was flying or on a rollercoaster). I still rarely get them, but no more of the 'hags' or demons, but more that i think i'm awake, think that i turn on the TV, but didn't actually do it.

i used to sleep on my stomach until i had to wear a nightbrace in my mouth. so then i learned to sleep on my back.

after my wife (gf at the time) moved in with me i found out i snore when i sleep on my back. so then i learned to sleep on my sides.

When I have had too much to drink I usually sleep on my stomach, otherwise I sleep on my back.

The worst ones I had was as above where I would be pretty much frozen, I'd try to scream but no noise would come out. I would have something the size of a Gremlin sat on my chest looking down on me. After trying to scream for what would seem like a few minutes I would suddenly wake up in a cold sweat.

There's a famous painting where a small demon is sat on someone's chest and it always reminds me of my Sleep paralysis.

nope, on my side facing to the right on the right side of the bed. exactly like the foetus position on the link posted above. i stay on the right side and dont move the whole night, ill wake up exactly the same. ive tried sleeping on my back, it lasts for a whole 2 seconds before im facing to the right wrapped around a body pillow.

I hope you are a woman because men with body pillows...well whatever.
i used to think the same thing but i was staying with my now-ex for awhile and since she left early for work for some reason i started to roll into the body pillow and discovered it did wonders for my aching back. actually i dont use a traditional body pillow per se like what she had, i just keep an extra regular pillow on my bed and use that. it also cuts down how often i suffer dead arm.

Change to a softer pillow. Side and stomach sleepers need a softer pillow to accomidate the differnece in the shape of the neck in those positions.

Oh yes I have no doubt it is probably comfy but once you get a new girlfriend you may want to put it away until you two get comfortable eh lol ;0

I get sleep paralysis when I nap if I'm on my back, pretty damn reliably, but never during regular sleep hours. I try to sleep on my side because it's the best position for my back, but I end up on my stomach or back most of the time.

I have had sleep paralysis. But I absolutely can not fall asleep on my back. I have to sleep on my side, or stomach. Sometimes I get another symptom, not sure what it is called, but if, while asleep I roll onto my back, and I wake up like that, I get really freaked out, and I start talking in tongues (so my wife says) and throwing my arms out to the side trying to find where I am. This usually lasts for a minute or more until I can bring myself under control.

If you sleep on your side you should put a pillow between your legs.

If I'm REALLY tired i can sleep on my back, but usually on my side.

I start off on my sides and eventually fall asleep on my back. It's been awhile since I've had sleep paralysis.

I usually start off on my back in bed, but when I wake up, it's usually to the side. However, if I'm dozing off in the living room, on the carpet, I usually lean to a side so I don't get blinded by the ceiling light. Only problem is I keep getting up cause the arm I'm sleeping on gets numb and starts stinging when blood rushes back. I find it more "sleepable" to be on the side, if not for the arm-numbing.

I sleep every which way. Probably freefall to get into bed or maybe that's the one I wake up at. Soldier maybe when I'm dead tired I don't move my arms um and just lie there and fall asleep.

I like to have my hands underneath the pillow however I sleep usually. It's nice and cool. I flip my pillow over often enough too in my sleep heh.

i converted to sleeping on the back. It was hard for me to sleep on my back, but i think its much healthier overall and I can't even sleep on my side anymore....

I sleep exactly like this, funny thing is I never thought about it being the Recovery Position and I'm a medic.

Those people are going to see all the web traffic and think they are in for some business, lol.
