That has happened to me more than once, usually because I was laying in some absurd position when I woke up. It really is funny, I remember the first time it happened. The offending arm was actually laying on my side or at my side, like someone came in and draped their arm across me before going to sleep. I still remember, the first thing I thought was OMG HOLY CRAP WHOSE IS THAT and jumped like someone threw ice water on me. I realized what it was half a second later when I tried to jump up in bed and only one arm moved  It has happened a time or two since then, but now I just jump a little and laugh.

Yeah I find it rather surprising at how easy it is to "revive" the sleeping arm. Sometimes I wonder how long it was like that before I wake and notice. I've had it cold and covered in that pin sensation one occasion and I was flailing about trying to get up and turn the light on. Scared the hell out of me (not from estrangement, but fear of damaging the arm).

No I mean my arm was dead, like can't feel it at all, not like it had fallen asleep. I really don't know why it happens, but I think limbs fall asleep when blood flow is cut off, and go dead when you're laying on a nerve/pressure point.

Yeah. Its not the pin sensation. For me, it was really, I had no idea where my arm was. It was like, it didn't exist. I think its just the nerves that were pinched

If I'm really tired I'll pass out on my back but I'll wake up an hr or two later and have to roll on to my side to fall back asleep. If I sleep on either side I'll sleep straight thru to my alarm.

I wish I could sleep on my back. I am a freefaller and have been that way all my life. I try sleeping on my back almost every night but upon 30 or more minutes trying to fall asleep, I just switch to freefall position and fall asleep instantly.

Now I am heading to the military on 12th of August so this is going to be a problem as people say most beds at the military are not really comfortable for side or stomatch (freefall) sleeping :(

lol... some cartoon chick in pajamas is NSFW? :p

You never know! Ask moshquerade - she once got a vacation for posting a pic of Kirsten Dunst with her jacket slightly unzipped.
that was so silly. :p

The letter y reminds of vaginas.

Motion for ban, also ban me for using y as an example, and then in this sentence.

God im bored.

As comfy as it is I couldn't fall asleep on my back if drugged. I generally fall asleep on one side, then wake up on my stomach.

Edit: "Freefall

Lying on your front with your hands around the pillow, and your head turned to one side. Often gregarious and brash people, but can be nervy and thin-skinned underneath, and don't like criticism, or extreme situations."

Spot-on :Q

I've suffered from Sleep paralysis a few times and now I think about it I was on my back each time. Never thought about it till I read this thread.

Most terrifying experience's I've had.

I fall asleep the quickest in the freefall position (because it keeps me from looking at the tv), but I move around a lot when I sleep and usually end up on my back or side in the morning.

I hope you are a woman because men with body pillows...well whatever.

There was an interesting study performed regarding people's dispositions and the way they sleep. For men it went like this

sleep on back - stronger/aggressive/confrontational
sleep on side/stomach/fetal - weak/non-confrontational/accomodating

from my own personal research I have found this to be fairly true. I do a mix of back/stomach/side but the majority on my side and I would consider myself non confrontational.

I don't sleep on my back anymore.

Sometimes I experience sleep paralysis symptoms. The last time I woke up freaking out - thought my cat was chewing on my arm until I realized where I was. I have also thought someone was over my bed and I was too scared to move. It lasts for about 5 seconds.

I also snore and wake myself up if I lay on my back. Also, in college when I used to nap on my back I would realize I was dreaming and struggle to wake myself up. It was kinda freaky.

I stick to sleeping on my sides or stomach.
