One parent seems to be a Democrat and the other seems to be a Republican while I hang out in the middle open minded to both sides as I can see where they come from on different issues.

everyone I know around me (bar none) are independent thinkers but now leaning Democrat, why? Palin, anti-intellectualism, digging thru the Faux News machine helps open their eyes. (ex. Brit Humes saying "Where's the oil?!?!?!")

Never with my dear Mother who is a dyed in the wool Republican,an avid viewer of Fox News and a Fundamentalist Christian. I use to with my father but after almost 60 years of marriage my Mother has turned him LOL. Both spend a good portion of their day watching all the hysterics broadcast on Faux News. I just spent two weeks in CA with them and it about drove me nuts.

You parents sound like great people. :awe: They interested in adopting?

Dad's been a liberal as long as I can tell, he's a WWII vet, a child of the Great Depression and still holds to his liberal ideology. Mom's a little more right leaning, but not much.

LOL.. yeah they really sound like independent thinkers. If everyone around you thinks like you, you either don't have very many friends or you aren't as open minded as you think. I am a Reagan Conservative.. I have many friends who are flaming libs.

So you believe in reckless deficit spending and illegal acts. Got it.

No, I don't support the Democrats doing that in the 1980's. And I don't support them doing it during Bush's Presidency, as well as during Obama's.

my parents are your prototypical ex-hippie baby boomer liberals. before we moved to the east coast after my mom's twin sister was diagnosed with cancer, we lived in a hippie community in Portland, OR through the 80's.

my politics are a little more nuanced, though. I'm pretty liberal on social issues (pro welfare/gay marriage/choice/universal health care/etc) but I'm practically a war mongering neocon when it comes to foreign policy.

But you do support Reagan and other Republicans doing it. You are a hypocritical hack.

You are definitely as ignorant as they come. Whenever I hear someone claiming to be a Reagan conservative, I immediately place them below the Teabaggers in intellectual capacity.

Reagan DESTROYED our industrial workforce by giving incentives to businesses to hire and produce in foreign countries. No other president has damaged the middle class and our economy as much as he did.

Too complex to categorize as simply republican or democrat. My parents and I are both "democrats" (although I'm half libertarian), but vehemently disagree on too many topics for me to say I share their political views.

A better poll would be yes // mostly // somewhat // not really // no

Can't vote in the poll.

My mom is a democrat.

My dad is an independent.

I'm an independent.

I'm closer in views to my dad I'd say but there is still stuff we disagree on.

I can't pinpoint my parents on this honestly they're all over the map. Some subjects they're hippies about, others they're down right limbaughian on.
