I live in TX now so I'll chime in with the plural of 'Yawl' is:

'All Yawl'

As a former Pittsburgher I'll leave you with:

'Yinz are a bunch of jagoffs'

:p

Correct. Plural is indeed "all y'all". Cunning Linguists have been puzzled by this for years.

Corrected for accuracy and for proper possessive tense.

example:" Well if y'all are gonna take your shorts off, I guess I should too." ...:Q

This cunning linguist has known this years. That doesn't puzzle me.

Sometimes. Born and raised in Minnesota and didn't start saying "y'all" until I spent some time in the Army. Lots of Southerners in the military.

Proper grammer trumps that.

You can't have a prep-phrase as a subject or DO. So Y'all is perfect. One word means it's a-ok!

That's what my co-worker (a Vegas transplant) said. Pretty soon we'll have him drinking sweet tea. :)

It really is convenient and easy to use in casual conversation. In business or more formal surroundings I don't use it (and never ever actually write it down in correspondence, casual or otherwise.) But for everyday conversation it's ideal as you can say it much more quickly.

Y'all is ok in some situations, even for a "Dammed Yankee" like me, but youse is also just as applicable...

WAY too many southerners use "Y'all" even when talking to ONE person...when it should be you, not you all...;) but den again...dey IS from de sout...
