I save them for a possible RMA or to ship it in later if I decide to sell it.

QFT. RMA often requires the box.

You can't RMA most items after 30 days I don't think.

Not to the vendor, but to the manufacturer you can.

Also, I keep boxes for items that I plan on selling sometime in the future. Motherboards, iPods, cell phones. I also keep them for computers (MacBook Pro) or a PC case if I feel it is going to be cumbersome to ship when I decide to sell it in the future.

And my boxes go in the attic. No wasted space here, as I wouldn't put anything up there anyway.

I see no point in keeping the boxes because you may never sell the item or ever have to RMA it. You pay a lot of money for all of that wasted space even if you don't know it or think you do. Imagine how much more room you would have without it. How much easier it would be to find things as well. You should worry about it only when the time comes for a RMA or wanting to sell it. Having the original box really doesn't help the resale value much because by the time you sell the item its already going for so cheap its not even worth selling anymore. So most people either keep it or throw it away.
OH NOES! You mean that Sound Blaster AWE 64 PCI card on my shelves isn't GAINING value? Why it's almost old enough to be a classic! ;)

I keep the boxes in case I may need to RMA, also for when I sell the parts. Any part that I know I will most likely keep for ever I dont keep the boxes for.
