So I got my first car ever a couple of weeks ago. Well I got a good price on it, and I took it to a mechanic and he says it's mechanically sound, so I bought it without asking for anything to get fixed.
So I've been checking my tires... and I observed the following:
1) Right front- 4/32 inch above treadwear indicator... Bridgestone Turenza EL42 (OEM tire)
2) Left front- 8/32 inch above indicator- also a Turanza EL42
3) Right Rear- 8/32 inch above indicator- a Yokohoma Avid V4s
4) Left Rear- 4/32 inch above treadwear indicator... again a Turenza EL42
The previous owner told me she had to use the spare once.... so my guess would be that the original front tires were worn out, and they were replaced with a Turenza and the Yoko... my guess would be that the 4/32 Turenza's are still original tires (~51k miles on my 05 Altima)
I also see minor cracks (like the one you see on dried up rubber) around the edges of the 2 old tires... like a band of very small cracks right on the edge of the sidewall and tire surface.
So... do I have time to replace my tires soon, or will they just blow up any day because of the small dried up cracks? Wouldn't want that to happen as I'll be driving ~150 miles this weekend.
