My father told me my wang came with a big 5'1/4" floppy and a huge hard drive, but it sure doesn't seem all that big now. I do remember when I used it, it froze up after a while and it would have memory errors when I showed it to girls that I didn't want to hang around to long.

If I got lucky, it sure would come alive and run great for a while after turning it on.

I remember Wang and Pet computers.

I really wish there were more brands of personal computers now. It is all x86 dominated. Would love to see a company release a home pc that used ARM processors.

The 80's early 90's were great with every company pushing their own ideas. Now its just computers with different cases. All the innovation seems to be gone.

Did she replace it was a newer model when she realized the Wang had no floppy?

Sorry, that's just so dirty when you read into it. The whole post actually. 5'1/4" when floppy? Yea, you must have been huge when hard!

Getronics is Dutch

I forgot which country exactly, but ya, I worked for Getronics years ago (ugggh I hated that company and everyone in it). They all used to work for Wang, and got taken over by Getronics.

Our company used to run on WANG terminals. I was cleaning up the 2nd floor of our office a couple years ago and found one of them. I gave it to my supervisor / company's programmer. He was delighted to see it and still has the terminal on top of his filing cabinet. Our company still runs on the same software too. Speed by TOM Software and KCML database by Kerridge, using TinyTerm Emulator.
