Do you remember Wang computers?

no, but if i had, i would have been hard pressed to suppress a snicker every time i used it.

Hell I remember when Exxon was selling a word processing system. 😱

Heck I even remember writing crap like this:
//IS198CPY JOB (IS198T30500),'COPY JOB',CLASS=L,MSGCLASS=X
//COPY01 EXEC PGM=IEBGENER
//SYSPRINT DD SYSOUT=*
//SYSUT1 DD DSN=OLDFILE,DISP=SHR
//SYSUT2 DD DSN=NEWFILE,
// DISP=(NEW,CATLG,DELETE),
// SPACE=(CYL,(40,5),RLSE),
// DCB=(LRECL=115,BLKSIZE=1150)
//SYSIN DD DUMMY

the swedish(?) company getronics took over wang. we used to use them for our hardware trouble dispatch.

My Wang was very unreliable, I had to pound it to get it to work properly. 😱

As long as you didn't have to keep shaking it to get it to respond.

They were a standard back in the day. Kind of like IBM and Apple. I never had one. My first computer was an Atari 800

What is the typical up-time on a Wang server?

I don't know, but if it's more than 4 hours it should seek medical attention immediately.

Actually the Wang server has unlimited uptime, it is the Wang that is limited to 20 minutes or so...

They were a client of ours (I worked for a headhunter) in the 90s. Changed their name to March First at some point, didn't they?
