Do you remember the day you joined AT?

ohtwell

Lifer
What were your first impressions of the place? Are those opinions different than what you think now?

The first day I posted on AT I felt like I would never fit into this place. I don't feel that way now. I've gotten to know most of you pretty well so no I feel like I fit in better. 🙂🙂

: ) Amanda

Yeah, I joined with the username aves. The conformation email never came so a few days later I joined again with aves2k using another email address.

About a week later the conformation from the first try finally came. Eventually I sent a PM to the mods to have them get rid of the aves account so that I could free up that email address and get ohtwell signed up. 🙂

I thought this place was pretty funny right off the bat. It has changed considerably though, even in the last year and a half.

I did lurk here in the days of UBB, but very infrequently.

i remember. i was wandering around the FS/FT forums. my impression was like "WTH does bump mean?"

lol.

I remember wondering what a nef was. Eventually I figured it out without having to start a "What's a NEF?" thread.

I was looking for help on a problem I was having with a motherboard, and wandered here. I lurked for almost a year before posting though.

I remember just looking at Hot Deals for a while, then eventually I started posting at Off Topic some. I remember wondering what "bump" meant, too.

Edit: spelling

Yes! I remember, reading the hardware reviews, then joining the forums. I was defiled, almost immediately, by Red Dawn. All I remember is that it was a political thread and I posted my $0.02. I was broken down like a new Marine recruit, right in front of God and everyone. :Q

I signed up to ask a few questions about troubleshooting a windows installation problem I believe.

My first impression was that if you don't have a high post count no one gives a $hit what you say or need help with. I figured I would never post much at all.

I think i joined when i was going to buy parts for a new system, and i asked a buncha questions. I also thought id never fit in, but i did, well atleast i think i do heh. But yeah the board has changed a lot since i joined, it seems offtopic, just gets more and more, well, off topic.

I joined after hearing people at FW bitch about it all the time, i wanted to see what the big deal was 🙂

I used to frequent Sharky Forums for about six or seven months before I'd even heard of AT. Finally, I started hearing references to something called "ATOT" and people started asking why Sharky Forums didn't have an "OT Forum"... didn't even know what OT meant.

Finally I started visiting to read the articles and to checking out the GH Forum... registered, posted for a couple weeks in GH, Networking, Video, etc. Then, the mysterious allure of the Off-Topic forum drew me in.

First couple hundred posts were interesting - got a new one ripped by Red Dawn, like most people here do. Went through quite a few personal changes in the meantime, so I'd like to think I've matured a bit in the last year or so.

Or maybe not.

Boobies.

Thanks for letting me share...😀

I first joined when I started doing research for the PC I built late last year (or was it early this year?) when the Via KT266A first came out. I started out by lurking in Motherboards, General Hardware, CPUs and Overclocking, and Cases and Cooling. I learned a lot, but once I discovered OT, I stopped learning, and it was all over from there.

Haha, new quote for my sig.

Yeah, I was really psyched for the N-Force chipset to come out... once I got my rig built, though, I pretty much stopped paying attention. The way it goes, I guess.

I joined in the middle of that whole Dennilfloss thing, IIRC. I thought that everyone was crazy.

I joined because Rivazone went down. I can't find anyone from there anymore. Maybe they were on a cruise and didn't tell me, then the ship wrecked on a deserted island.... Serves them right for not telling me. 🙂

Hah, when i stumbled along i was researching the new "K7 Athlon" cpu that was out. I built one rig, slot A athlon, then i got lucky enough to get a chance to build another rite when socket A came out, then after that its just been OT 🙂

Signed up under another name.....went through many isps....and usernames from so many places.....didnt come here for a few months...didnt have same emails.....cant remember original username.......sucks....i did this with Icq Ebay....a ton of stuff....lol

I'm honored.. 😀

I was referred to a friend who said this was a good resource to get help on your PC and learn a bit more. I used it a bit, then got busy and didn't use it for ages, and came back a while ago (hence my small post count).

ohtwell seems to have liked this place, considering her post count in the amount of time she's been registered 😀
