We discharged a little old lady 7 days short of her hundredth birthday earlier in the week.
There's weird regulations about who gets put in a hospital ambulance on a stretcher trolley and who gets a wheelchair. She was on a stretcher and she was pissed!
The sass she was giving the ambulance people was hilarious.
I'd be happy to get to 100 if I'm like that!

I believe it's safe to say the consensus opinion of ATOT is that YES, in fact we DO "want to get old" !! ;)
(at least most of us!)

I mean.... consider the alternative!

I'm fine with the alternative. This world is an unjust place not worthy of living, not inherently but because we make it that way.

Like I said .... MOST of us! ;)

(trust me ... we'll ALL be getting the "alternative" sooner or later!)

With my health problems, no thanks!

I have no desire to be a martyr, which is usually what happens these days to people who persist in saying the truth and seek justice.
Allow me to retort with another pithy quote: think globally, act locally :)
You don't have to do everything, you don't even have to do big things, but you can do something to make the world better. You don't have to... but you can.

Point being if one CHOOSES to do nothing positive it sorta feels like condoning the status-quo to me. Just sayin. ;)

For some reason I read that as you "discharged" her as in you euthanized her. I was like, "That sucks. She almost made it!"

I am 64 and pretty active. Active in that I am constantly doing home repairs and yard work.

What I don't get is this: when I was 20, if I sprained a knee, I could walk it off in a couple of days. Now it takes weeks or more. What has changed?

I eat OK and I take some supplements. It's very discouraging to constantly being sore.

Lack of proteolytic enzymes. Their production by our body decreases as we age.

There's Neprinol you can take. It will make your blood thinner and it also helps your body get rid of fibrin mantles which are used by cancer cells to hide inside.

The other is a bit problematic, in that it will cause your stool to smell like that of a tomcat. It's called Wolf Benitez enzyme formulation and it originates from Europe. However, it greatly speeds up recovery from injuries.

tim cook is 82 and he's still fairly in shape and active, probably doesn't need viagra either, money helps you be better when you're older but the 2nd best time to improve your life is now, the first best being yesterday and before. I've mangled this saying but i don't care and you lot are smart enough to figre it out.

that happens when you marry yes.
Never been married. Got a herniated disc. Inability to do proper exercise due to that condition led me to get diabetes. I refused to go on diabetic medication because I wasn't ready to be a lifelong diabetic. Reduced weight drastically to put diabetes into remission. However, all of that was not "free". It turned me into a shell of my former self.

I know you're not i speak of myself. sorry to read this igor, but now i understand why you fantasize about bananas. they are very sugar fruit. I knew of a diabetic I worked with many years ago who was the same, which I thought was weird until she explained her fascination with fruit. this was before research indicating exercise may limit or reverse developed diabetes. she was soft to put it bluntly. we did cross paths a few years ago at a security conference and she recognized me but not me to her. she'd lost the weight and reversed her condition.

I'll say it straight up, I am in shit shape right now. I have fallen in capability a ton since 2019 with the two shoulder surgeries and put on weight and yo-yoed twice. The weight gain has been fueled by depression, and I am coming out of that now. That year with my sister was not good.
I had two carpal tunnel surgeries last month and started doing hard work to rehab them, and plan on piggybacking that increased activity with more.
The alternative is not acceptable.

When I was a kid I looked forward to being older, and basically at the stage of life I am now. Done school, have job, house, vehicle, being able to buy stuff I want etc basically the standard adult stuff. At this point I don't really look forward to getting any older. I already have some minor health issues like bad feet, not looking forward to when I start having more serious issues like arthritis and other old people issues. The only good thing about being older is retiring, but then you have so little life and health left you can't really enjoy it.

I just hope that when I die it's quick, I don't want some illness where my life is basically meaningless because I spend all my days managing the illness instead of actually living.
