I recently upgraded to Vista Ultimate from XP. A longtime Nero user, my v6 won't work under 64-bit Vista. I was looking at upgrading but I started wondering if I need burning software at all anymore. Under XP, I used Nero for:
1) Burning data files to DVD. I can format the DVD and just drag-and-drop files in Explorer (I just found this out - I actually wasn't aware you could do this in XP since I always used Nero).
2) Burning/Creating ISOs. This was one area where I thought I might need software but I found an ISO Recorder "power toy" that integrates into Vista's context menu. I think "Power toy" is misleading, b/c IMO that implies a relationship with MS and this tool is completely 3rd-party. But it's free, seems work, and has been vetted a bit (some versions available on download.com).
3) Burning Video. I don't really burn movies in DVD format very much, but Vista Ultimate seems to have the basic functions I would ever want for home-movie type projects.
Anything I'm overlooking, or compelling reasons to use burning software -- Nero or otherwise?
Thanks in advance.
