<< Are you saying that if we do nothing, then bin Laden won't use nuke next time? >>

EXACTLY!! This poster to whom you are responding implies the U.S. is to blame for this attack, that we somehow provoked or deserved it, and if we stop doing that we wouldn't be attacked. WRONG! These fanatical groups HATE the U.S. and everything it stands for, not just its policies in the Middle-East (all we've tried to do over there is keep one side from obliterating the other - an admiral goal). Bin Laden or some other terrorist group may very well attack us again even if we were to stand-by and do nothing.

These are the same pacifist/cowards who believe when you're the victim of criminal violence, you should just comply with your attacker's demands because if you don't he might get angry and hurt you even more. [Pacifist/coward = If I hide and make myself really small, I won't offend anyone, therefore they won't be angry with me or have a reason to hurt me.] Nice theory, but it defies all practical experience and exists nowhere on earth. Even Ghandi supported violence if it was in self-defense.

No, I absolutely DO NOT imply this!!! We should hit back at those bastards! But we must not follow the path they calculated.

Why would we be fighting against Palestinians?

I don't think it's a World War until it's a BIG war, once we initiate this it's going to be over in no time.

It is inevitable that some innocent lives will be lost. You want 'surgical precision'? In order to get at the cancer, a surgeon must cut and damage healthy tissue first. That's surgical precision.

Syria
other possibilities: North Korea, Serbia, Lybia

<< of course those are all just guesses. Now lets list the countries that would be on our side.
All of them.
>>

South Korea
Saudia Arabia
Kuwait
Taiwan
Canada
Australia
New Zealand
Possibly some European countries if they don't all whimp out.

And I'm not worried about it either because we can take on all the enemy countries all by ourselves abd beat them easily.

<< WANT THAT COUTRY (Afghanistan) OFF THE MAP! What would make me happy is fuel bombing the ENTIRE country! >>

I'm not so sure about that, I think that the U.S. would be highly criticized for doing this and it would really hurt our international economy and foreign relations. Sure, I would like to do that, but just think about all the innocent people that do live in Afghanistan, less than 10% of the country wants to destroy the U.S, probably not even that much. The terrorists are a small select group, and we should be careful when selecting targets. Obviously we will have to choose some targets with collateral damage, but we don't need to target major metropolitan areas, etc.

Also remember that to have a world war, you have to have a series of tension-building events that culminate in the balloon holding all the tension to explode. With WWI, it was the period following the Revolutions of 1848 to the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. For WWII, it was the signing of the Treay of Versailles up to Hitler's Blitzkrieg on some country (I forget it it was Norway or Poland or Czechoslovakia).

[Edit]
Oh yeah, also remember that if we do go to war, we have to declare war and mobilize for it. I'm not sure how long it'll take us to mobilize for war, but I imagine that it'll be at least 1 week...

<< It's kind of hard to do another suicide mission when you don't having very many people left. The coutries that harbor these terrorist should be TOTALLY wiped out. EVERY person GONE! I'm sure we do have some people here in the US that are terrorist but once those people are gone that will be it. These coutries will breed no more. I WANT THAT COUTRY (Afghanistan) OFF THE MAP! What would make me happy is fuel bombing the ENTIRE country! This way VERY little American lives would be lost in the war and it will be over with in a matter of a week. But to do this you need to kill EVERY living thing! No mercy calls for no mercy! :| >>

You are no better than the terrorists. What about the innocent people? If you don't like something about the Bush Administration, how much can you do about it? How much do you think an average Afghan can do when they don't agree with Taliban? May be when Tim McVeigh bombed OK, we should have totally wiped ourselves out to make sure that will never happen again.

Yes, I think if not WW3, a long drawn out war with no victories(another Vietnam??). This relates to what I already said in another post about using nukes.

>>I have suggested the use of tactical Nukes against these terrorists groups here. But deep down I know that this would be a bad way to go. To kill mass popluations of people and countries will destroy countries and BORDERS and more specifically the borders of the neighboring countries as well. What you will have is many countries fighting over border issues and whose land belong to who and such. And whats worse is the surrounding countries here are extremely volatile(Pakistan, India, Russia, Iran, and etc.). I don't remember much about history but, the last time we saw a "reshuffling" of countries and borders in this region was about 80 years ago and it gave us the problem we having today between, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Israel, etc.. So I hope we think this through carefully before we start bombing the poplulation and countries we hate.<<

The war did start on Tuesday. What it will be called remains the responibility of history. The attack on the WTC is an event that will affect not only the U.S. but the world. The deaths and damages have finally exceeded by far the threshold of the American public for tolerance. Previous threats to the safety of the republic illustrate the way to proceed. The Civil War, World War ll, are prime examples of the response generated by the threat. Did you notice the number of fence sitting countries pledging support for the U.S.? NATO, Egypt, Russia, other former Soviet states, Pakistan, India, etc. Yes, this will be a World War, a war against the terrorism by proxy. Iraq and Iran, usually enemies may become allies against the world . So be it.
