seems some people have more trouble processing the written word😛 dislexics and stuff i guess so they prefer dubbed, otherwise i see no reason for not using subs. reading should be effortless.

Subbed. I really don't have a problem reading subtitles at all.

Dubbed just comes off as weird. When I lived in germany, I always hated watching American cartoons dubbed in german. It was horrible.

Everything sounds terrible when spoken in German. :awe:

I have to really pay attention and read and can't miss a second of subbed movies...

dubbed movies have no feeling in the voice though so i can't stand it

First time I watch a non english speaking movie I try to watch it with subtitles. After that dubbed.

Live action: Out-of-sync speaking bothers me too much. Subs.
Animated: I haven't watched much anime, but when I did, I preferred subtitles. Theoretically I'd prefer dubbing since there's no sync problems in a cartoon, but most dubs are really poor quality and I'd rather read subtitles (especially since there's rarely much going on visually).

i love subtitled foreign movies. dubbed is just a joke to try and watch... completely unenjoyable because you're laughing too much.

My idea of foreign films come from UK where I can almost understand them so it's not such a problem. Snatch, Dr, Strangelove and so on.

Always hated dubs, its so fake

Anime is the perfect example actually, specially because japanese voice actors are SOOOOO much better than english ones(or any other country Ive heard), they really give life to the characters

And lol at "Ive grown up and dont watch cartoons", you just showed you have no idea what anime is about, plenty of anime deals with serious subjects, its just that most of it, like every other media type, is mainstream crap about teenagers, so no wonder alot of people think that

This also reminds me the last time I watched FF 7 Advent children with some people and they wanted it in dubbed, I was about to leave the room, its just so horrible... specially kid voice overs tend to be incredibly cheesy and just bad when dubbed

Hell, for a canuckistanian, almost ALL movies are foreign...😛

Lol true. But we don't exactly consider American movies to be foreign. We do have a fairly successful indie film scene but I find the majority of indie Canadian work to be boring as hell. I guess it's always that way with the indie stuff from your own country.

Dubbed is better because then I can follow the movie while my head is laying flat on the couch. Most of us can't read rotated words.

Inglorious Bastards is a fine example why I prefer subs over dubbed, Hitler speaking English would be like, "THE FUUUUUUCK?"

For those who cant read subs and watch the movie...you must be those kind of people who cant walk and chew gum at the same time. 😛

Subs. I used to resist and always watch dubbed but I realized when watching Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon in the theater that you don't even notice you're reading subs after a few minutes.

I would say dubbed generally, but some movies are just made better with the original language, like Night Watch and Day Watch. Not to mention the frigging awesome subtitle effects in those movies. Watching it in Russian just makes it sound better imo.

Id rather watch anime dubbed...simply because a lot of anime (Dragonball Z comes to mind) has really weird voice actors for the Japanese version...the characters in DBZ sounded like females...horrid...

For live action films Id rather preserve the actual actors performance, voice and all...subtitles work and are usually, from what I know, more accurate with whats being said in the native language then when dubbed. When dubbed the script becomes "American-ized"...especially true of movies like Jet Li's "Fearless" and Stephen Chows "Kung Fu Hustle"...both seemed like completely (i.e. worse) different movies in english than the Chinese version with subs.
