Heh. I guess I'll join the majority of people that posted in saying that I used to play as well, but stopped a couple of years ago. My friends and I actually did play 1 day this year, for old times sake. It's kinda funny how back then, Magic was an expensive hobby, but these days, not that I'm working full-time, it's a lot cheaper than my new activities of drinking, clubbing, going to dinners etc.

that was a long time ago. I stopped playing after iceage.

I used to use red/green. But my favorite theme deck was a green/white fairy deck composed of fairys elves pixies and other cards with gay pictures. It was a pretty effective weenie deck too.

anyone want to buy a jesters cap?

I used to play when I was in like grade six. I'm glad I realized how gay that game is before I got to high school. Sold all my cards a couple of months ago to a guy on the For Sale/Trade forums here at AnandTech.

Oh, back to the initial question.

For the last year that I did play, I primarily used this one deck, which I pretty much dubbed the "Pain in the ass" deck. It was made solely for multiplayer games, and all it did was piss people off with mass destruction cards, meanwhile protecting myself. Key to the deck were Glacial Chasms, Armageddons, a Zuran Orb, Earthquakes, Wrath of Gods, Land Tax, Hurricanes, Island Sanctuary, Jayemdae's Tomb etc.

Pure red deck. Mostly firepower and 4 shivan dragon to begin with. :D Used to be the most powerful until ice age when gay cards started coming out. :(

Blue mostly, I like manipulation type of decks.
I still have a bunch of cards stored in boxes
and folders. Trying to get rid of them if anyone
interested in purchasing.

ps - There's actually a "Pro Tour" with tournaments with $25K main prizes.

Yep! My bro-austonia on this forum-use to play it professionally for a period of at least a year. Ranked in the top 100 in the world! Few years ago he went to Paris for the World Championship, and while he didnt win the championship, he came close and made enough to cover the cost of the whole trip w/airfare and he had a little left over.

Its pretty impressive how far some people go into that game.

I used to play a few years ago, I still need to sell my cards. I played lots of different decks. Pyro, domination/counter, necro/sacrifice, and weenie were my best.

played in 8th grade (7yrs ago) won a few tournies to.

My favorite deck was this black/red power card denial deck. Centered around 4 shivens , 4 dragon welps, 4fireballs, 4 lightings, 4 hypnotic specters, 4 hymn to torachs, roal assasins, the works.

But the deck I won most with was with a simple red green deck where if I used my sol ring and lands I could get a shiven dragon out by three moves. Then I had kird apes as my troops.....memories....hmm I wonder if I still have my cards at home.

oh my, good memories, get used to be made fun of all the time till a big bully becomes a full-time MtG player... j/k

started when 3rd edition (revised?) cease, 4th edition was kinda suck.
Ice Age was good, Lengends was the best imo. stopped when Mirage came out.

favorite deck, Red/Green deck, trample rampage creatures ownz...
deck2: Burn deck, has like 40 cards and all the Urza lands and pure burn spells...
deck3: Black creatures; simple, easy, lethal.
deck4: boring White deck, Circle of Protection deck.

deck I hate most: blue counterspell deck with White Enchantments (Worship, Land Tax, Armaggedon (its a Socery I know). Blue cards are ANnoying!!! freaking Boomerang....

first turn, swamp, dark ritual, HS.
second turn, swamp, dark ritual, four Unholy strength, attack. :p
(and the fukker Swords to PlowShare or Unsummon it (told you Blue spell sucks!)

dude, anyway, just put Shadow on a HS or "Dwarven Warrior" it... imagine the carnage...

Started with Revised. Just stopped over the summer. To expensive with going to college. I wish I had the money to continue though. Some of the funnest experiences in my life. I was getting pretty good. Won a tournament up in Seattle and got invited to a Pro Tour in New York. Went and got beat soundly by the pros. But winning the Seattle qualifier and getting invited to the Pro Tour in NY was one of the best moments in my life.

I use to play ALOT. I mainly used green and black, one of my favorite decks was the Deranged Hermit/Plaguelord/Diabolic servatude. I liked creature desruction and speed creatures with quik pump ups.

I play every Wednesday night at my condo. A bunch of people come over to the place and we duel it out... Usually end up playing multiplayer games (Pentagram, Emporer, FFA) But I still find quite a bit enjoyment in it... It seems that everyone who's answered used to play, but no one plays. Right now I've got a Green Spike deck that works quite well (weakness: flying monsters, need a few Spidersilk Armours) and I just built a Splash and Burn deck(red/blue direct damage & counterspell), that sucks in multiplayer, but is just fine in single.

Oh, by the way, the new expansion 'Oddesey' is incredibly powerful. Flashback and Threshold are great. I have a card called Kahmal, Pit Fighter... 2R to play, 6/1 Haste, Tap + deal 3 damage to creature or player.

Intake77 - I still play 1-2 times a week. I go to the Pro Tour qualifiers I can make and usually draft or play in a 1.5 tournament on Sundays. Call of the Herd is 100% better that Kahmal, btw. Oddessy is weak compared to Apocalypse.

There's an Extended PTQ in Mountainview this weekend. If i can make it, I'll probably be playing a white weanie deck.

Never even heard of call of the herd, what series is it from? casting cost, abilities, etc?

<< Oddessy is weak compared to Apocalypse. >>

I dunno about that, Apocalypse is powerful, but Oddessy introduced flashback and threshold... if you work those right into your deck, they are awesome... I absolutely love haste btw... I've got Reckless Charge (R, target creature gains +3/+0 and haste till end of turn, Flashback for 2R) and Need For Speed (Sac a land, target creature gets haste till end of turn) Both have saved my ass many-a-time...

Come to think of it, I think i'll try to build a deck based around haste. :)

Something that I always wanted to do is this:
Build a deck around an Ornithopter, Enduring Renewal, Goblin Bombardment.

10 Cast Goblin Bombardment.
20 Cast Enduring Renewal.
30 Cast Ornithopter.
40 Sac Orni, deal 1 pt of damage to opponent.
50 Orni hits graveyard, Enduring Renewal puts it back in your hand.
60 Goto Line 30

Kill everything... kill everyone...
bitchy, and people will hate me, but just dang cool.

Call of the Herd 2G Put a 3/3 Elephant into play. 3G Flashback. Put a 3/3 elephant into play. Rare. Goes for $10-$15 a copy. Pure card advantage. Was played in the #2 deck at the last Extended Pro Tour. Was in most of the T8 decks in the just completed State championships.

AP is good because the rares are pure power. There are at least 20 playable rares in the set out of 43. OD has maybe 15-20 playable rares out of 110.

What price do the hot rares of the recent sets go for? I remember the days when a Jester's Cap would go for $20, and a Hammer of Bogarden was like $15. I did an ebay search a month ago and these could both be had for under $2. :) Guess I'll prob. never end up selling 'em. I do have a Mox Jet that I won in a tournament that I prob. could ebay for about $100.
