Back then, we all dialed up to local BBSs, some were connected with Fidonet or whatever it was called, to allow for global discussion forums. The rich people could afford Compuserve and the other few dialup services (imagine paying $$ per minute just to read a forum or download files, at 1200/2400 baud no less).

I'm just cheap I guess. I haven't paid for content in the 14 years I've been online.

I paid $30 for a two year subscription to Fool.com. Highly recommended if you are interested in financial matters.

I paid for two months @ IGN. Saved all pages that people wanted, posted them on personal webspace, then stopped subscribing.

So cough up $25 for the year and pay $2/month ...

I pay for here, would pay for IGN but I get it for free though IGN, ESPN (I'm a sucker for rumor reports), and fileplanet (yeah I know it's a rip to pay for demo's but when the latest CS patch comes it it is nice, and fileplanet I share with friends so I get my bandwiths' worth for sure).
