Do you own a HDTV?

Must resist going back to comcast digital cable + HD. Maybe I can buy a 32" HD LCD from Costco and return it when something better comes out... but that'd be unethical...

If you have a fixed pixel tv like lcd, plasma, or dlp you don't need to have a pscan dvd right? Unless your dvd player's de-interlacer is better than the tv's.

Correct. However, you'd be surprised at how poor the deinterlacer is on most TV's.

many reports have stated that by the year of 2006, most consumers will own at least 1 hdtv. even though we're not at 2006 yet, let's see how many of us actually own one.
Total nonsense. No way in hell "most consumers" will own an HDTV by the end of 2006. Most people keep tvs for a long time, and even now plenty of tvs are being sold that aren't HDTV compatible.

I don't own one and couldn't give less of a crap right now, with no plans to replace our crappy 27" any time soon.

it'd be more realistic if the channels were widely available. Maybe they will be within the next year... then a couple more years everyone will realize / follow suit...

Of course it's hard to picture this if HD channel rollouts are thought to remain at the current rate.

I have 2 HDTV's, but only because I got married recently and moved in with my wife

we bought one before we moved in and then another one late last year

Too bad Time Warner cable in NYC only has a few channels. Even the commercials are in DD 5.1

Three of them. 65" Toshiba, 46" Toshiba and a 30" Sanyo. All of them hooked to HD OTA and HD DirecTV.

no, and there are almost no real HDTVs in exsistance. Most of the so called HDTV TVs are HDTV ready - meaning they can receive the HDTV signal and scale it down to the resolution the TV has. Most plasma TV dont even have PAL resolution (576 lines), they only have some 400something.

I wouldnt even consider getting a HDTV before they are "real".
There are more chances to get real HDTV via TV card on your computer than with a TV set.

I feel your pain

we are f*cked for the moment in Europe when it comes to HDTV
no content at all, people seem to be happy with their PAL or PALplus signal
